PURPOSE OF POSITION Reporting to the Director, Human Resources Services, this position plays a key role in providing broad range of human resource (HR) support services including payroll, leave, and benefit administration for all staff at the Oil and Gas Commission. The HR Assistant works at a fast pace, in a challenging environment, with tight and competing deadlines, and work assignments where attention to detail and relationships are critical to the success of the position. SELECTION CRITERIA Education/Training in human resources, payroll, or accounting/finance and a minimum of four years (4) years of directly related experience, one (1) year of which includes working in a human resource or payroll environment. Experience in general office procedures (handling inquiries over the phone and/or , working to strict deadlines). Experience working in a multi-union environment, specifically as it relates to interpretation of collective agreements. Experience processing transactions and manipulating a complex HR or payroll information system and/or in accounting/finance. Knowledge of HR principles, policies and practices and collective agreements. The Commission s core roles include reviewing and assessing applications for industry activity, consulting with First Nations, ensuring industry complies with provincial legislation and cooperating with partner agencies. The public interest is protected through the objectives of ensuring public safety, protecting the environment, conserving petroleum resources and ensuring equitable participation in production. PURPOSE OF POSITION Reporting to a Director, Human Resources Services, this position plays a key role in providing broad range of human resource (HR) support services including payroll, leave, and benefit administration for all staff at the Oil and Gas Commission. NATURE OF WORK AND POSITION LINKS Under the direction of the Director, Human Resources Services, the HR Assistant provides service, advice and guidance to clients both directly and indirectly. This position works in a client focused environment where work processes, relationships and expectations are changing to support the ongoing relationship with our internal stakeholders and benefit services providers. Clients to provide information, and guidance on human resources processes and procedures and collective agreements. 3 SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES / DELIVERABLES 1. Human Resources Support Provides administrative support to ensure smooth functioning of the human resources office. Provides information to employees regarding human resources policies, procedures, and processes. Supports the HR Managers, by searching for information related to established interpretations on negotiated collective agreements. Assists the HR team with travel arrangements, credit card reconciliations Responsible for the Human Resources letters, producing correspondence to keep clients apprised of actions taken relative to human resources related matters, such as hiring and compensation. Assist HR Managers with through the recruitment process. Performs other tasks as directed by the Director, HR Services. Responsible for all HR data entry and reports in Avanti and the reporting out on an ad hoc, monthly, quarterly and yearly basis. Searches and corrects errors and inconsistencies in data using system generated reports, inputs data corrections and clarifies entries. Assesses draft job descriptions for required standards and professional presentation 2.
