1 ASPIRE-INTERNATIONAL PROJECT LEADER Based at City House, Bradford 37 hours per week: 29,500 per annum Aspire-international (part of the aspire-igen group) is the UK s leading producer of careers information for studying and working abroad. In its role as the UK Euroguidance centre, it is recognised by the European Commission as a centre of excellence, providing a link between the careers guidance community in the UK and its counterparts throughout Europe. The department also has a long and highly successful history of working in collaboration with education, training and careers organisations across Europe on a number of award winning transnational projects. Our main areas of expertise are social inclusion, training solutions and the development of online resources, with our projects focusing on the careers guidance, vocational training and employment sectors. Our open and inclusive approach delivers innovative solutions to a broad range of pressing contemporary issues (from Brexit to the integration of migrants). We are recruiting for a Project Leader to join our small but highly motivated team. We require an outgoing, well organised individual with excellent research and writing skills who is confident leading a team. The use of IT will be a necessity of the job so working knowledge of Microsoft Office, social media and other project management software is essential. The successful candidate will be positive about the opportunities offered by travel, work and study in other countries and be able to travel in the UK and Europe. They will also be someone who is confident about meeting and speaking with people, whether in a face to face situation or over the telephone, and whether in a formal or social context. Experience of working, studying or travelling in Europe or beyond is essential, whilst an ability to speak other languages is also desirable. Because of the possibilities for travel in Europe candidates must be citizens of an EU or EEA member state. 3 JOB DESCRIPTION POST TITLE: Project Leader (Aspire international) The following information is furnished to assist staff joining the Company to understand and appreciate the work content of their post and the role they are to play in the organisation. However the following points should be noted: Whilst every endeavour has been made to outline all the duties and responsibilities of the post, a document such as this does not permit every item to be specified in detail. Broad headings therefore may have been used below, in which case all the usual associated routines are naturally included in the job description. PRIME OBJECTIVES OF THE POST: To lead, deliver and be responsible for allocated European and other projects, ensuring achievement of all related activity To assist in the maintenance, updating and extension of information resources within aspire international To deliver training courses and presentations as required, includes developing, promoting and organising aspire international events To promote aspire international through social media, blog and at meetings, conferences, careers exhibitions and other events, both in the UK and abroad To develop funding bids and secure involvement in new projects through networking with national and European partners SUPERVISORY/MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the work of persons subcontracted to projects for which the post holder is the lead person Day to day supervisory responsibility for aspire-igen employees involved in projects allocated to the project leader. Responsible for the management of termly person working with aspire-international i.e apprentices, interns etc SUPERVISION AND GUIDANCE: From the aspire international manager RANGE OF DECISION TAKING: Responsible for day-to-day decisions in connection with the projects allocated, referring only complex problems to the aspire international manager Responsible for the planning and prioritising of own work and of others including aspire-igen employees involved in projects allocated to the project lead and external project partners Involvement in decision making on securing new contracts / projects relevant to aspire international Spending from project budgets on designated budget lines as directed by the aspire international manager Responsible for writing interim and final reports on projects on which payment is dependent RESPONSIBILITY FOR ASSETS, MATERIALS ETC: Consumable items, petty cash, travel budgets, and project budgets as allocated by the Aspire-international Manager
4 RANGE OF DUTIES: 1 To manage and lead a transnational project partnership as assigned by the aspire international manager ensuring achievement of all related activity in line with contract guidelines 2 To represent aspire international and aspire-igen with a multitude of organisations across Europe and internationally to establish and maintain networks of partners 3 To attend any meetings, in the UK or abroad, necessary to the work of aspire international/aspire-igen 4 To contribute to the delivery of other projects and contracts as assigned by the aspire international manager 5 To complete any necessary administrative tasks related to assigned projects 6 To monitor and report project progress drawing particular attention to deviations from the project plan 7 To develop funding applications, identifying: potential project topics on which to base funding applications; appropriate partners for new bids and assessment of potential projects 8 To attend and organise conferences, meetings, study visits, careers exhibitions and other events, both in the UK and abroad, necessary to the work of aspire international 9 To deliver training courses and presentations to appropriate groups and clients 10 To promote aspire international, its products, services and projects through a range of online channels (website, blog, social media) 11 To answer specific European and international information enquiries from professionals and the public in the UK and abroad 12 To use and maintain databases to carry out financial reporting related to projects 13 To be instrumental in promoting aspire international and securing involvement in project partnerships 14 To organise and supervise steering groups, research, testing groups and focus groups in the UK that contribute to the delivery of aspire international contracts and the development of services 15 To meet all relevant quality standards and to secure continuous improvement Additional Duties 16 To undertake other duties consistent with the scope of the post and within the competence of the post holder as required. 17 All employees are obligated to manage their effective personal development as part of the Company s commitment to quality, staff training and development this involves active commitment to and participation in the appraisal process, during which individual employee developmental needs will be highlighted. 18 Each individual must ensure that they meet their statutory responsibilities with regard to Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity in the workplace and other relevant employment legislation and Company rules.

Be familiar with Microsoft Office applications, in particular Word, Excel and Access Also be familiar with Facebook, Twitter, Survey Monkey and YouTube, and WordPress website environment Literate clear handwriting, good level of spoken and written comprehension, good spelling, able to understand written instructions, able to explain things clearly. Excellent writing skills. Able to construct clear sentences.
