7 Tungsten Cabide Bus Application Examples and Recommendations PFERD tungsten cabide bus ae designed fo machining mateials of vitually any stength. The pefect combination of tungsten cabide, shape and cut geomety and, if equied, coatings, make this possible. Advantages Recommendations fo use Optimum powe output and RPM of the powe souce (ai-poweed o electic machine, flexible shaft system) ae necessay conditions fo an cost-effective use of tungsten cabide bus. The high concenticity allows the opeato to wok moe safely, educes tool dive wea, povides smooth opeating action, pevents chatte maks, inceases tool life and stock emoval pefomances. Application examples Debuing. Contouing. Milling in pepaation fo build-up welding. Weld dessing. Milling of acute-angled sufaces. Inne contou wok, i.e. peipheal and face milling. Shapes and cuts fo TC bus and HSS otay cuttes We theefoe ecommend that you: Use highest possible speeds. Please obseve ou ecommendations fo speed/cutting speed. Fo stationay use o when countesinking with 360 use of the bu, wok in these instances at RPM o less. Only use igid clamping systems/dives as impacts and chatteing on the tools lead to pematue wea. Do not chose a too small bu clamping depth. In geneal the minimum clamping depth is 2/3 of the shaft. Fo the cost-effective use of bus with a diamete > 6 mm a tool dive output of watts is equied used at the highe cutting speeds. When using bus with coase cuts (e.g. ALU cut), even highe tool dive outputs of watts ae of advantage. The speed can be substantially inceased with low stock emoval (debuing, chamfeing, light suface wok). The DIN Standads Institute uses a specifi c code system to denote the shape (DIN 8032) and cut (DIN 8033) of these bus. The tables compae the shapes and cuts between the PFERD and DIN codes. We ecommend substantially loweing the speed to avoid damage to mateials which do not conduct heat well, such as stainless steel (INOX), titanium alloys etc. Avoid making the shank and tool tun blue. If subjected to excessive tempeatues, the soldeing connection between the bu head and the shank becomes less igid. The head may tea off. The bu contact suface to the wokpiece should not total moe than a thid of the cicumfeence. An excessively lage wap angle > 1/3 pevents smooth milling behaviou. This esults in cut beakage. If an enlacement angle > 1/3 cannot be avoided, we ecommend cuts 3R and 3RS. When machining vey cloying mateials, the use of a suitable lubicant such as cutting oil, gease, keosene, chalk o simila is ecommended, to pevent the cut fom clogging up. 202 Shape PFERD shapes DIN shapes PFERD cuts DIN cuts ZYA ZYA 1 C ZYAS ZYA S 2 (HSS with chip beake) - B - 3 (HSS with chip beake) - KUD KUD 3 MY WRC WRC 3 PLUS MX SPG SPG 4 MX SKM SKM 5 F RBF RBF ALU - KEL KEL ALU PLUS - TRE TRE FVK - WKN WKN FVKS - WKNS WKN S 3R - KSJ KSJ 3RS - KSK KSK MZ - R - - special cut - V - N I 7

62 TC Hole Cuttes TC Hole Cuttes, Recommendations fo Use Tungsten cabide hole cuttes ae pofessional tools fo quick, pecise hole-cutting (cut-outs) of between 16 an05 mm in diamete. They ae suitable fo woking on alloy and nonalloy steels, stainless steel (INOX), non-feous metals and plastics (including GRP). Tungsten cabide hole cuttes ae used on hand-held dills o on stationay machines. Recommendations fo use Pipes Advantages High concenticity, as the cutting head and shank ae poduced in one piece. Optimum cutting pefomance due to shap gound teeth fom high-quality tungsten cabide. Replaceable HSS pilot dill. Note PFERD tungsten cabide hole cuttes can be e-shapened. Timely and pofessional eshapening substantially ens the tool life. Please call you local shapening sevice. PFERD offes two types of tungsten cabide hole cuttes: 8 mm tool height (flat type) fo wok on sheets and flat mateials, available in diffeent diametes fom 16 to 105 mm. 35 mm tool height (long type) fo wok on pipes and cuved sufaces, available in diffeent diametes fom 16 to 60 mm. Flat poducts exit without obstuction. Place suppots outside the cutting aea. Recommendations fo use The stated efeence speeds (see Recommended RPM ) apply to machines capable of poviding constant RPM unde load. Fo low-powe machines whee speeds dop unde load the RPM should be inceased by about 30%. If the teeth of the cutte ae not continuously engaged (e.g. on pipes o cuved sufaces), the ecommended RPM levels may be inceased by up to 100%. This will help to pevent chatte and tooth beakage when using the cutte in a hand-held powe tool. TC hole cuttes ae suitable fo wok on stainless steel (INOX). Paticles fom the wokpieces which develop duing wok must be emoved in ode to avoid coosion. We ecommend mechanical and chemical cleaning (etching/polishing etc).
