2 Junior Achievement Fact Sheet Organizational Mission To inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. What is Junior Achievement? Junior Achievement is the world s largest organization dedicated to educating young people about business, economics, and free enterprise. Simply put, we teach kids how money, careers, and business ownership work. JA s programs are taught by classroom volunteers from the business community in the United States and over 100 countries worldwide. In Northwest Florida, Junior Achievement programming is available in K-12 th grade classrooms in Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa Counties. Mentorship is the key driver for our programming. JA Overview In the school year, Junior Achievement of Northwest Florida reached over 2,600 students with JA curriculum in over 200 classrooms in 34 schools with the assistance of 157 volunteers from the local business community. How do we do what we do? Junior Achievement is the only entity solely functioning in Northwest Florida to educate youth regarding financial responsibility. JA works to ensure that tomorrow s workforce and future business leaders are prepared to enter a professional setting with the knowledge of proper professional conduct, basic personal finance skills, knowledge of free enterprise, and a general understanding of economics. Our schools are overwhelmed and are not able to provide these essential skills as part of their annual curriculum, but with the support of local companies and dedicated volunteers, Junior Achievement is able to fill the gap by providing financial literacy to our school children. JANWFL is funded by individual, corporate, and foundation contributions. JA programming is provided at no cost to the schools. Today s youth are your team members tomorrow.
