2 WELCOME The Northwest Green Home Tour is an annual educational event, produced by the Northwest EcoBuilding Guild, that showcases local, sustainable and green new homes, remodels, and energy retrofits in the greater Seattle area. NW Green Home Tour is our most successful event With over 3,000 attendees, this free-to-the-public tour has made it s mark in the Puget Sound region. For the past seven years we ve reached thousands of consumers and building professionals each year with web, radio, and print advertisements. Feedback from members, sponsors, site hosts, and the general public has been overwhelmingly positive. The tour typically includes about 35 sites, sponsored by members of the Northwest EcoBuilding Guild. Purpose The Northwest Green Home Tour provides an opportunity for members of the community to learn about sustainable building practices from the people and businesses that support it, including builders, contractors, suppliers, realtors and green homeowners. It also serves as a way for building professionals to engage with the general public.
3 SPONSORSHIP For sponsors, the annual Northwest Green Home Tour is a chance to reach an audience interested in sustainable practices. Sponsors benefit from exposure to all Green Tour attendees. This year we ll build on our highly successful media campaign with a center pull-out guide in the Seattle Weekly and a series of listings in The Stranger Suggests online calendar. We ll still have great exposure in Natural Awakenings Magazine thanks to the great partnership we ve enjoyed with them. Finally, we ll make our printed guide available at each site on the tour and as a printable pdf online - offering even more opportunities for you to highlight your business. The earlier you secure your sponsorship, the greater the benefit your company will get from the tour s extensive publicity and advertising efforts. 9 SPONSOR FAQ Q: What can I get from the Add Ons Menu? A: You may pick as many options from the Add Ons menu as you would like. Your sponsorship includes a certain number of these for free and then you may purchase any additional items at the rate shown. These rates are only available to tour sponsors and site hosts. If you are not a site host or sponsor, Add Ons are available A la Carte for the price listed in parentheses. If you are a sponsor and a site host, you may use multiple Add On options to reduce your site host fee. Q: When is my payment due? A: Payment is due 30 days after you apply for sponsorship. However, your logo and ads will not be publicized until you have made your payment. Q: What are the deadlines for submitting copy and graphics? A: Logos for the poster are due by March 16th. All other print copy and graphics are due by March 30th. Copy and graphics for the website can be posted anytime, but the sooner the better. The following are needed: Logo, Sustainability Stop photos, Sustainability Stop short and long and description submit via sponsor application or . 10 Sustainability Stop FAQ If you are a sponsor hosting a Sustainability Stop, you may have questions about what to expect on the 2018 Green Home Tour. Q: What is a Sustainability Stop? A: Sustainability Stops are non-residential stops on the NW Green Home Tour. They usually offer tour-goers light snacks and refreshments, a chance to learn about products and services that support a sustainable lifestyle, and often a chance to save money through discounts, raffles and give-aways. Q: How many visitors can I expect? A: Traffic to your site can vary tremendously depending on the location of the site, the number of adjacent sites in the neighborhood or local area, and the attractiveness of your specials. Typically a sustainability stop will get visitors over the day. Q: What do I need to include in my application? A: Sustainability Stops get the same size and style listing in the tour program and on the website as residential tour sites. These feature photos, address and description. You will be asked for these in the sponsor application. We encourage you to highlight any special offers in your description to draw more visitors your way. Once you ve made your payment, we will need your logo, at least one photo and a short description in order to create a page for your Sustainability Stop. You can always send more details later. Please note the production schedule on the previous page.
11 ABOUT THE GUILD NORTHWEST ECOBUILDING GUILD The Northwest EcoBuilding Guild is a 501(c)3 community of builders, designers, suppliers, homeowners, realtors and partners concerned with ecological building in the Pacific Northwest. The Guild empowers people through education to transform the built environment for long term sustainability. The Guild was founded in 1993 by a small group of professionals already incorporating green building ideas into their practices. They formed the Guild in order to network, learn, and exchange ideas related to their areas of expertise. The Guild has now grown to seven chapters serving the diverse bioregions of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and British Columbia. Our mission is to support through education the progressive work of our members in the Pacific Northwest in order to improve the relationship between our communities and our built environment. We provide open-source educational materials to the construction industry and the general public to encourage building practices that dramatically reduce carbon emissions, are self-sustaining, contribute to local economies, and create optimal conditions for human health and community. We consider the needs of the seventh generation in all that we do and encourage inclusive discourse to that end. Within the Guild community, there is a strong emphasis on thought leadership, community, integrity, sustainability, innovation, education, and fun. 12 ABOUT THE GUILD OTHER PROGRAMS In addition to the annual Northwest Green Home Tour, the Northwest EcoBuilding Guild offers many other fun and educational activities throughout the year. Educational Events The Guild presents regular educational meetings that cover a diverse array of topics related to green building. These events are free to members or are a $10 suggested donation for non-members.
