COMMITMENTS REDUCE FOOD WASTE The level of food waste is unacceptable; a big challenge for the Foodservice industry The global challenge: 1 YEAR OF GLOBAL FOOD WASTE COULD FEED THE ENTIRE EU How it translates to the Foodservice industry: Reducing food waste is a challenge but also a cost saving opportunity 13
Over 122,000 Tonnes Of Food Is Wasted Each Year in New Zealand New Zealand produces enough food to feed 20 million people, yet every day tonnes are thrown out
Australia produces enough food to feed approx. 60 million people, yet 2 million people still rely on food relief every year. Australia Wastes 4 Million Tonnes Of Food Each Year (Valued At $8b) Around 1.5 million tonnes of this is from the commercial sector Restaurants and Cafes across Australia are throwing away at least 40% of food purchased for service Or 24% of their entire weekly turnover
Food Collective was born: UFS, KiwiHarvest, Kaibosh and OzHarvest have partnered to inspire positive change in foodservice kitchens in ANZ.
What is Food Collective? In NZ it is a partnership between UFS KiwiHarvest and Kaibosh. It is a loyalty program with a mission to rescue food within the New Zealand hospitality industry. Food Collective is your opportunity to help KiwiHarvest and Kaibosh with the great work they do by raising money and rescuing food while receiving rewards for being part of the solution.
HOW DOES IT WORK? 18
For each case of UFS product that a venue orders, 50c will be donated to OzHarvest (Australia) or KiwiHarvest & Kaibosh (NZ) to enable the charity partners to deliver meals to someone in need

HOW CAN YOU HELP? 21
Encourage new and existing commercial operators who purchase Unilever Food Solutions products such as Knorr, Hellmann s and Continental, to get involved in this great initiative. All they need to do is sign up, for free, on the FC website and submit their invoices as proof of purchase in order to donate the funds to our rescue partners.
Results to date Number of registrations: 1,766 (NZ 482) Number of meals donated: 33,516 (NZ 2,649) Food Collective won the Innovation of the Year Award from FSAA (Foodservice Suppliers Association of Australia) in September.
Why would operators sign up? Make a valuable difference to those in our communities and the environment Get surplus food redirected from your kitchen, for free, and into the hands of people who really need it Learn how you can reduce waste, save money and improve your bottom line Accumulate reward points that can be used to redeem items in our online rewards shop
