3 Statistician - Head of Agricultural Accounts Team (Nov 04 to Mar 05) Head of a team of five. The team was responsible for collection and coordination of data feeding into the aggregate accounts for agriculture as well as for the calculation of the aggregate variables. This included bringing together a wide arrange of statistics requiring excellent project management skills to meet the tight deadlines and guarantee the high quality that is required of these key statistics. It also required a good understanding of national accounts methodology. Lead statistician for the Department s key publication Agriculture in the United Kingdom. Assistant Statistician Rural Statistics Team (Jul 04 to Oct 04) Carried out a statistical analysis for Government paper on rural productivity and analysed the priority of different data sets for application of the new rural definition. Member of the task force on statistics on rural development and agricultural household income, a task force of the Inter-secretariat Working Group on Agriculture Statistics. Assistant Statistician - Food Statistics Branch (Oct 03 to May 04) Estimation of food consumption and expenditure based on the Expenditure and Food Survey and calculation of the food-related weights for the Retail Price Index. Staff responsibility two junior staff with no statistical training, one processing results of the food elements of the Expenditure and Food Survey (main system in Access), the other responsible of food industry statistics (main system in Excel). Secondment - National Expert at the UNECE Statistical Division, Economic Statistics Methodology Section (Mar 03 to Sep 03) Designed and coordinated an in-depth survey of rural development statistics in UNECE member countries and presented the preliminary results to the UNECE/Eurostat/FAO/OECD Meeting on Food and Agriculture Statistics in Europe. The final report on the survey was be published in the UNECE Statistical Journal in July Provided assistance in the organisation of the 'Meeting on Food and Agriculture Statistics in Europe' held in Geneva in July Assistant Statistician - Agricultural Accounts Team (Jun 01 to Feb 03) Responsibility for the labour and capital bills for the economic accounts for agriculture. This was a particularly challenging exercise following the 2001 Foot and Mouth Outbreak in the UK. Together with colleagues in the Office for National Statistics and at Eurostat, development of the methodology to incorporate the losses due to Foot and Mouth into the economic accounts for agriculture. I participated in the Eurostat Working Party on the Economic Accounts for Agriculture and a Taskforce on the accounts created specifically to agree a methodology for the incorporation of animal disease related losses into the agricultural accounts. Statistical Officer Livestock Statistics Branch (Oct 98 to May 01) Support to the head of the team with main responsibility of Excel based meat supply and demand forecasting models.
