2 General: Spring plantings in France, Germany and England are nearly finished - only Scotland is still struggling with rain that delays drilling. South Sweden and Denmark are very fare in the drilling and will finish beginning next week. Now drilling is moving up to West and Mid Sweden and Lithuania is starting. Finland has still 2-3 weeks to go before drilling malting barley but weather forecast is good and frost in soil is now quickly disappearing. Farmers are still holding on their last volumes of crop 2015 in hope for better prices but homes for it are disappearing more and more. Supply /Demand for Crop 2015 have turned somewhat to a smaller carry-over malting capacity in Europe is working with high utilization rate. Actual barley prices FOB DK/SE Crop EUR/t 1 H Apr 2016 Crop EUR/t 1 H Oct 2016 Crop EUR/t 1 H Oct 2017

3 Sweden Weather: Mild winter with nearly no snow and frost gave the opportunity for very early start of field works but cold weather in March delayed it somewhat. Drilling started early but with a lot of rain showers the work was slowing in and is now more in a normal time frame, South Sweden was finished to about 80% end last week. We expect the acreage of spring barley to decrease with about hectare compared to last year to about hectare hectare Catriona 6% Planet 2% Tipple Varieties for crop 2016: Propino 38%, Irina 23%; Quench 14%, Sanette 6% Tipple 5 %, Planet 2% New test varieties: Soulmate; Makof, Catriona and Brioni for Enzyme malt Others 3% Makof 3% Sanette 6% Quench 14% Propino 38% Irina 23% Malting barley varieties 2016: Propino Irina Quench Sanette Tipple Planet Catriona Makof Others 2016/ / year

4 Lithuania Weather In General mild winter with small amount of snow. Two weeks were cold in January and violate winter crops in south of Lithuania where was area without snow. Spring crops sowings has started in Lithuania in 5-10 th of April, what is couple of days earlier than typically. Crops Winter crops in malting barley area (middle and north of Lithuania) are healthy, no bigger damage. In south of Lithuania where was area without snow in cold period (Sakiai, Marijampole, Alytus) oilseed rape winter killed by 40-50%, winter cereals about 20-30%. Peas and horse beans prices are good and traders are doing pre contracts very actively. Expecting that area will rise again this year of these legume crops. Crop 15 quality is good. Proteins in target, good kernel size, only very few problems with germination and fusarium. Yield per hectare where 4 t/ha. Malting barley prices of crop 16 are at decent level in comparison with wheat and feed barley prices. Malting barley varieties 2016: Varieties of crop16: Propino 4; Grace 17%, Tipple 12%; Quench, Kangoo, Avalon, Sannete 6% each. New varieties Sannete, Overture, Avalon has been tested from crop Results were suitable for malt production and bigger volumes will be tested of crop 16. Planet, Irina, Soulmate is on plan list to test from crop 2016.

5 Finland Weather The winter was fairly good this year in Finland with deep frost and good snow coverage compared to last two winters. The frost is very good for the soils after last wet crop season. During end of March and start of April the frost has melted quickly and at the moment we have quite typical spring weather with some rains and some sunshine. In April also the nights have warmed a little bit but some degrees of night frosts still forecasted. Typically sowings start in Finland in the end of April and seems that we are in the normal schedule at the moment. Crops No major winter kills have been reported so far but due to the weather conditions some damage is expected. Winter wheat and rye area decreased both 10 %. According to the survey made by Finnish Cereal Committee, total grain area remains quite stable. Barley and spring wheat areas are estimated to slightly drop. Oats was estimated to increase with 5 %. During the spring, price development of different grains may have effected the intentions even more. Small decrease of 2 % in malting barley growing area is estimated. During the recent months farmers have strongly protested against low grain prices and profitability of agriculture. There is a possibility that extensive farming may increase. Maltsters are having a good coverage of crop 15. Malting barley varieties 2016 (estimate): Nullox Harbinger 30% Barke 20% Fairytale Tipple 20% Trekker 10% Enzyme barley 10% Harbinger has increased to the most popular variety. Fairytale is decreasing and will be exiting due to the low screenings after crop 2016.
