3 INSTRUCTIONS: These plans will walk you through each step as you Prepare, Assemble and Enjoy the new addition to your yard. Check out the Progress Bar at the bottom of each page to track your advancements as you complete each phase of your project! RESPONSIBILITIES: It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, codes and regulations for any project. Proper safety precautions must be taken prior to and during the construction of each project. Please follow standard safety guidelines and wear necessary protective equipment when building and using your new backyard addition. FOUNDATION: A solid foundation is necessary to prevent settling and tilting of each project. We recommend using a leveling pad, unless local building code requires you to pour a concrete foundation or build another type of foundation. TIPS FOR BUILDING LEVELING PADS: Choose the location for the completed project; place and mark the position of the base layer of blocks. Once marked, remove the blocks and the organic top soil within the marked area. If applicable to your area, create a leveling pad with a non-frost susceptible, well graded, compacted angular gravel-sand mixture with fines (GW as per ASTM D248). The leveling pad should be a minimum of 4 to 6 inches thick. For leveling pads greater than 8 thick, the fill material shall be placed in more than one lift. Each layer or lift of fill material shall be leveled and compacted to a 95% Standard Proctor density before moving on. Once the top layer of fill material is compacted and level, place the base layer of blocks. The base layer should sit 1 to 2 inches below grade to help further prevent shifting. Use additional fill material to level the base layer as needed. * If a concrete slab is required, prepare a leveling pad using the procedures listed in the paragraphs above. The concrete shall have a minimum compressive strength of 2500 psi. A 4-inch thick concrete slab should be more than sufficient. A thickened edge and reinforcement of the leveling slabs may be required. Please consult a professional engineer for specific requirements. Whether you plan to build the project yourself or to hire a professional, every project requires a call to mark your utility lines. Exercise caution when you work with Concrete Block designs. Wear protective safety equipment such as safety glasses, dust masks, gloves and a hard hat. 3

Refer to the construction adhesive s application instructions for proper use. * Do not over apply adhesive. It may reduce effectiveness. Use mineral spirits to remove any unwanted adhesive. Refer to the illustrations on the following pages to guide you through each step. Prior to adhering each level to the previously laid block, place the entire level of blocks and check to make sure the fire pit insert fits properly. Remove small sections at a time to place the adhesive. Hook up the gas connection during Level 5, prior to placing the table top and adding the fire glass. Be sure to follow all safety precautions and consult a professional to complete this project. 4 PREPARE

5 PREPARATIONS Ignition Method and Placement: Choosing the ignition method is the first step in building the Fire Table. This will determine where the project can be placed, what materials will be needed and give you an idea of how long this project will take. Suggested methods of ignition included: Natural Gas line or propane line run directly to the site, or a portable propane tank with a quick disconnect. Be sure to check local building codes to determine any regulations on types of ignition, placement of fire places or any other regulations that may apply. Whether you choose a Natural Gas line, propane line, or portable propane tank, be sure to consult and work with a professional to correctly run and hook up your connections. If running a Natural Gas or Propane line to the table make sure the concrete slab or patio is large enough to act as the foundation of the entire table. When using a temporary portable propane tank, a leveling pad may be used for the foundation. Refer to the foundations suggestions on page 3 of this guide. Once the preparations for the ignition source have been made and the foundation is complete, lay the first level of block. Make sure the first layer is positioned correctly and level before moving on. Use the Level 1 as a reference for the remaining levels. This is where the key for the propane hose will fit. Test fit the key and modify hole diameter as needed.

9 Use and Maintenance With proper use and maintenance you can enjoy this new addition to your landscape for years to come. Gas Fire Table Use: When using your fire table, always following burning regulations in your area, keep the area free from combustible material and never leave a fire unattended. Refer to the gas fire pit pan s instruction manual for use and installation tips. If using a propane tank as a source of ignition, always remember to turn off, disconnect and properly store the tank and all connection equipment. Make sure any Natural Gas or Propane connection is completely turned off when fire table is not in use. Gas Fire Table Maintenance: Make sure all ventilation openings are clear of debris. Wait until the fire table has completely cooled before cleaning. Refer to the fire pit pan s instructions for cleaning and other maintenance tips. Concrete blocks can be cleaned by wiping down with water or gently spraying them with a hose. Make sure proper drainage is allowed at the base of the table and base of the fire pit pan. Proper drainage allows any water that gets into the base a way escape so it doesn t build up and seep through the gaps or erode blocks. ENJOY 9
