2 Background Official Plan requires an EA to confirm the road alignment Council direction June 2013 to commence the Robert Ferrie Drive EA Application for OPA was received in September of 2013 with a request to integrate this planning application with the Municipal Class EA Process Application was circulated in October 2013 City Project Team and Steering Committee formed 2
3 Integrated Approach The EA Act allows the integration of the Planning Act Process with the Municipal Class EA Process An EA is required to determine the road alignment as well as an Official Plan Amendment An Integrated Approach consistent with Schedule C as set out in the Municipal Class EA was undertaken Official Plan Amendment and Schedule C Class Environmental Assessment 3

5 Approval Process City of Kitchener Council will decide on the EA and the adoption of the OPA The Final ESR Document is filed with the Ministry of Environment for a minimum of 30 Calendar Days for public review The Region of Waterloo makes the decision on approval of the OPA Official Plan Amendment and Schedule C Class Environmental Assessment 5
6 Problem/Opportunity Statement To determine the precise alignment of and preferred design for the westerly extension of Robert Ferrie Drive from its current terminus at Evens Pond Court to Strasburg Road which provides for an adequate transportation network to support existing residents and approved developments within the Doon South and Brigadoon Communities. Note: No new land use designations are proposed by the OPA beyond the designated City Urban Area Official Plan Amendment and Schedule C Class Environmental Assessment 6
