1 ADVANCED ENERGY SYSTEMS - projects General information All project report should include: - project number, project description and name of students (with group) - system assumption, - system design, - system optimisation with senility analysis for component price fluctuation (up to +20%), - system total cost and COE (cost of energy) - summary - can be written in Polish or English Deadline: Project have to be submitted within 3 weeks in printed form to room B3-215 Cost of component should be base on Polish market prices Solar radiation can be taken directly from software options Wind data You can take from web Project 1. The target is to design the photovoltaic grid-off system able to generate energy for lighting the 1km bicycle road light (1km). Location Kraków, Poland. Number and type of lights (total power) have to be suitable to light properly the road. Working hour: 6 hours from sunset Project 2. The target is to design the photovoltaic grid-off system able to generate energy for seasonal ( ) bar located on the beach in Poland, Hel. Energy demand: 10 kwh/day Maximum peak power: 3kW Openning hour: Load: Assume irregular load during the working hours and uniform after closing.

2 Project 3. The target is to design the (PV+WT) grid-off system able to generate energy for lighting 20mx20m Playground area. Number and type of lights (total power) have to be suitable to light properly the Payground area. Working hour: 2 hours from sunset Project 4. The target is to design the fully autonomic grid-off system base on renewable and non-renewable energy able to generate energy for Weekend house. Power, number and type of electrical devices used should be decided individually and listed as a project assumption. The total energy consumption should be no smaller than 250Wh/day. Location: Bieszczady, Poland Maximum peak power: 1kW Load: Assume irregular load Project 5. The target is to design the PV grid-off system base on renewable energy able to generate energy for City Bike station. Required power, number and type of electrical devices used should be decided individually but the total energy consumption should be no smaller than 100Wh/day. Location: Gdynia, Poland Maximum peak power: 50W

3 Project 6. The target is to design the PV+WT grid-off system base on renewable energy able to generate energy to illuminate Large billboard. Required power should be decided individually but the total Power should be no smaller than 100W. Location: Szczecin, Poland Maximum peak power: 150W Working hour: 5 hours after sunset Project 7. The target is to design the fully autonomic grid-off system base on renewable and non renewable energy able to generate ELECTRICAL energy for mountain hotel (schronisko górskie). All possible energy resources including diesel or LPG can be used. No more than 50% of energy can be produce with nonrenewable energy resources. Space and water heating should be excluded and not taken into consideration Location: Murowaniec, Poland Energy demand: 24kWh/day Maximum peak power: 3 kw Project 8. The target is to design the fully autonomic grid-off system base on renewable energy able to generate energy for water pumping station at countryside. All possible energy resources can be used. Pumping station is equipped with 2 pumps each 1kW. Pumps are working 15min every 1 hour. Location: Dobczyce k/krakowa, Poland Maximum peak power: 2 kw

4 Project 9. The target is to design the PV+WT grid-on system base on renewable energy able to generate energy for Single family detached house with grid connection. Required power and load profile should be decided individually but the total energy consumption should be between kwh/year. Assume than less than 50% of energy is supply from the grid. Location: Hel, Poland Energy demand: kwh/year Maximum peak power: 3000W Project 10. The target is to design the PV+WT grid-on system base on renewable energy able to generate energy for Primary School with grid connection. Required power and load profile should be decided individually but the total energy consumption should be around kwh/year. Assume than approx. 20% of energy is supply from the renewable energy system. Energy demand: kwh/year Maximum peak power: 5000W Working hour: 7am-2p.m Project 11. The target is to design the PV grid-off system base on renewable energy able to generate energy for Ticket machine. Required small power should be decided individually but the total energy consumption should be no smaller than 1kWh/year.

5 Project 12. The target is to design the any type renewable energy base system able to generate energy for seasonal Tourist information point. Required power should be decided individually but the total energy consumption should be no smaller than 250kWh/year. Location: Łeba, Poland Working hour: 8a.m.-15p.m (only season summer vacation time)
