12 EU-PROJECT GREEN ECO NET ( ) FINAL CONFERENCE, BRUSSELS, 26 MAY 2016 What does the Circular Economy Package mean for SMEs in the EU? More Information is needed (e.g. platforms like Green-Eco-Net and also nationwide platforms in several languages) More collaboration between the SMEs in the value chain is needed Funding options for SME have to be more clear, well known and easy to join Networking to exchange experiences between SMEs is needed (be carefull and focus on the benefits of national and regional structures to support SMEs directly with confident partners) 12
13 EU-PROJECT GREEN ECO NET ( ) FINAL CONFERENCE, BRUSSELS, 26 MAY 2016 What does the Circular Economy Package mean for SMEs in the EU? Break up the hurdles and reduce the unfounded fears the circular economy is not a real new thing it s for SME a new life cycle thinking to work more together e.g. to create intelligent procedures and innovative improvements in the value chain We have to give specific support to bring SME close to this topic and to find ways to implement activities in there day-to-day business 13
14 EU-PROJECT GREEN ECO NET ( ) FINAL CONFERENCE, BRUSSELS, 26 MAY 2016 By combining efficiency and effectiveness - doing the right things - the European economy would experience win-win-win. Lower costs, less carbon emissions, and more employment. Very good news in a situation where environment and resource concerns too often have been seen mainly as a cost and threat to competitiveness. Anders Wijkman, Co-President, Club of Rome Source: GROWTH WITHIN RPORT CIRCULAR ECONOMY VISION FOR A COMPETITIVE EUROPE, June
15 RESOURCE EFFICIENCY IN SME CONCLUSION Resource efficiency in eco design and production processes is a key to sustainable growth and very important for a circular economy! Potential and benefits are recognised by the company with the aid of consultants Concepts, approaches and methods are available For the implementation, the need for tangible and independent support is particularly relevant for SMEs Further training is also required by the consultants Networking to exchange knowledge is needed 15
