2 Progress Report on Green Energy Demonstration System of Biological Technology for APEC 1 Prof. SY Wu CEO, APEC research center for advanced biohydrogen technology (APEC-RCABT) Feng Chia University, Chinese Taipei 43 th ISTWG Meeting, August 2012 Taipei, Chinese Taipei Purpose of the project This project is to set-up a green energy demonstration system for the fixation of CO 2 by using biological technology and to promote a scientific research network among APEC members. The aims are to develop green energy technologies, to organize a platform for all bioenergy technology experts. The expected outcome of the project is to strengthen the promotion of green growth. 2

3 Upcoming events The 2012 Steering Committee Meeting and Short-term training course on Advanced Biohydrogen Technology will be held on August 27-29, 2012 in Taichung, Chinese Taipei. 4 2012 APEC Short-term Training Course on Green Energy Technology The 2012 APEC Short-term Training Course on Green Energy Technology will be held on August at Feng Chia University, Taichung, Chinese Taipei. A total of 20 students from Chinese Taipei, Philippines, China, Korea, Japan and Singapore will participate in the course. 5 APEC Concept Note APEC Certification Platform for Industrial Green Processes and biomass-based Products 6 (Self-Fund)

5 Missions Green APEC is a certification program for private sector in APEC economies that want to go green, save money, and take steps to sustain their quality of life over the long term. The Green APEC program including the two missions: Support local economy and use regional resources to reach Prosperity. Practice responsible environmental management and conservation to protect Planet Fit APEC 2012 Priorities Shape a favorable institutional environment for innovative development and creating regional cooperation mechanisms in science, technology and innovation in the interests of all APEC member economies. 7 Purpose: The program is a science based effort to align the interests and resources of actors from private sector, for the common purpose of achieving a sustainable APEC and world.
