Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position. PURPOSE: To maintain and repair all aspects of the cable plant and associated equipment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Performs all the duties and responsibilities of an Installer and Service Technician. - Troubleshoots and repairs problems associated with both the coaxial and fiber networks. - Responsible for correcting problems to customer s equipment. - Understands system design, reads design prints and is able to calculate signal levels to identify cause of problems. - Repairs cable in emergency situations while working on stand-by and multiple shifts to ensure the timely restoration of service to customers. - Communicates with subscribers to identify cable problems and verify they have been corrected. - Performs routine maintenance on coaxial network to prevent degradation of service. - Performs design changes as necessary and reports revisions to design department. - Provides support to other departments as assigned. - Provides position leadership training to other technicians.

2 - Performs general plant construction duties as assigned. - May be required to perform cable location duties on an as needed basis. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties may vary by location. Performs other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. QUALIFICATIONS/SKILL SET: - Proficient use of headend and fiber optic test and diagnostic equipment. - Ability to write routine reports and complete forms. - Must be able to climb foot poles utilizing ladders. - Must pass and maintain bucket truck certification and confined space certification within 30 days of start date. - Must maintain a professional appearance and wear company uniform and I.D. at all times. - Requires ability to communicate effectively, tactfully and courteously with all clients and employees. - Must be able to continuously learn and retain knowledge of new services and promotions being offered by the company. - Must possess good manual dexterity, and experience with electrical devices and equipment, and hand tools. - Requires ability to efficiently assess a job to determine how it should be completed. - Must have flexible work hours and be available for overtime as required by business operations. - Attention to detail is required.

3 - Knowledge and understanding of OSHA, National Electric Safety Code and National Electric Code and other industry regulations as they relate to the cable industry. - Working knowledge in the use of hand tools and aerial construction equipment. - Knowledge and understanding of Public Safety Commission, FCC and Division standards and regulations. EDUCATION: - High School Diploma or equivalent is required. - Associate s degree in Electronic Communications, Telecommunications or satisfactory completion of an electronic technology program through a military, correspondence or technical/trade school is preferred. EXPERIENCE: - Minimum 2 years cable related experience. - Must demonstrate the ability to perform Service Technician duties at an advanced level. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. - Will use hands and fingers to utilize and manipulate hand and splicing tools as well as test equipment on a constant basis. - Must be able to use general hand tools (hoists, grips, straps, drills, as well as measuring devices and test equipment to verify work constantly throughout the work day. - Must be able to frequently lift weights in excess of 75 pounds. - Requires heavy lifting of generators, power supplies, and batteries on a regular basis. - Must have acceptable physical condition to enable crawling, carrying, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pulling, pushing, grasping, climbing, lifting up to 75 pounds or more on a constant basis. - Must be comfortable performing duties of the job in bucket truck and/or on pole on a frequent basis.

4 - Must be able to maneuver in difficult terrain such as construction sites regularly throughout the work day. - Must meet manufacturer's weight requirements for all equipment used including bucket trucks and ladders. - Must be able to work outdoors in high places or below ground level frequently throughout the work day. - Must be able to hear and speak on a constant basis. - Communicating in person and by telephone or radio on a frequent basis. - Reading and typing on computer are frequent. - The employee must be able to deal with irate and difficult customers in a professional and courteous manner on a regular basis, and be able to manage multiple tasks. - Must possess a valid driver s license (from the tri-state area) and safe driving record. - The employee must be able to drive and while driving must not pose a threat to the safety of others. - Must be able to use all safety and climbing equipment. The ladders, buckets and other climbing equipment necessary to perform the work of a field technician are rated for maximum weight capacities which includes the weight of the technician plus any tools the technician is carrying. Exceeding the weight of such ladders, buckets or other climbing equipment poses a serious risk to the safety of technicians and the public, and may violate state and/or federal limits for such equipment. The maximum body weight of a field technician for use of the majority of such equipment is 325 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. - The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. - Requires ability to work outdoors year-round in adverse weather conditions. - Must be willing to work in hazardous conditions working near electric lines on a frequent basis. - The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
