You will be employed to work a 35 hour week all year round. Normal hours will be Monday to Friday 9.00am 5.00pm. We are looking for a committed, reliable and experienced payroll and pensions administrator. There is a vibrant spirit of teamwork and co-operation within the school, and we are looking for a can do person who works both collaboratively and positively. The core purpose of the role is to provide a comprehensive, professional payroll and pension service to the School, as well as running purchase ledger. 3 Person Specification Job Title: Payroll, Pension and Purchase Ledger Administrator Responsible to: School Accountant Essential Previous experience of Payroll, Pension administration and Purchase Ledger Ability to maintain highest level of confidentiality particularly when dealing with sensitive issues. Analytical skills Attention to detail and commitment to quality Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills Sound organisational and administrative skills Ability to prioritise own workload. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel. Adaptability and flexible approach to job roles and responsibilities. Minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English (A-C) Be a good team player Ability to be effective under pressure Sense of humour Sensitivity to the ethos of this Methodist Independent School. Desirable A knowledge of education and the independent schools sector Experience of PASS Accounts software Access to own transport Valid driving licence

4 Job Description Job Title: Payroll, Pension and Purchase Ledger Administrator Responsible to: School Accountant The Accounts Assistant supports the School Accountant in the delivery of an effective and efficient financial service for the School. This is a full-time role including the School holidays. The main duties of the post will include but not be limited to: Payroll and Pensions Maintaining the School database for Payroll staff to include Starters/leavers, etc Monthly processing of payroll for all staff, production of payslips and salary payments Monthly HMRC returns, payments and reconciliations to Wages & PAYE control accounts Monthly Pensions returns, payments and reconciliations to Pensions control accounts Administration of Pension Auto-Enrolments Filing of monthly RTI returns Preparation and filing of all Pensions annual returns when due Updating salary lists for Teachers and Admin/Support Staff Production of P60 s for all staff Purchase Ledger Bank Updating of purchase ledger supplier accounts Processing invoices for signature, coding invoices and posting to purchase ledger Payment of invoices when due by BACS & cheques Monthly reconciliations of purchase ledger to Creditors control account Updating cash book and posting all payments including non-purchase ledger items Assist with monthly bank reconciliation for the main bank account Posting and reconciliation of monthly credit card statements Monthly reconciliations of credit card statements Petty cash Other Operation of Petty Cash and cash book Posting of cash book and monthly Petty Cash reconciliations Monthly reconciliations of all trip, charity and collections accounts. Monitoring larger school trips eg IOW, Arethusa, etc Processing of monthly Papercut charges across all school budgets Monitoring Departmental Budgets - calculating spends & remaining balances Postage (Neopost) totals - allocations to relevant departments Processing of utility meter readings and payment of utility bills Monitoring of Council tax and Non-Domestic Rates charges Listing of telephone bills and checking totals Operation of students pocket money
