1 Education Futures Trust Job Title: Hours: Salary: Holiday: EFT Mental Health and Well-being Coach and Mentor 0. 7 full time equivalent, all year round (26¼ hours weekly) 17,178-19,154 (f.t.e.) depending on experience 25 days (rising to 28 days) + bank holidays (f.t.e.) Information Working for the Education Futures Trust, the Health and Well-being Coach and Mentor will work in one or more of the Education Futures Trust venues to remove barriers, particularly those linked to mental health, for vulnerable adults. Within a flexible role they offer structured support, guidance, groups and activities in order to enable them to achieve their full potential. The post holder will support beneficiaries in better managing their mental health issues and aim to break down barriers to learning, training, volunteering and employment by offering: one to one support; personalised plans identifying need, targets and the support required to ensure progress; intensive support at times of transition e.g. leaving care; signposting to appropriate agencies; support in groups to improve achievement and outcomes; work to support learning and progress to employment; planning and delivery of groups; expertise that can be shared with other staff. This post will include the delivery of projects in line with the plans agreed with funders. This will include: developing materials as required; providing 1-1 support and recording progress of beneficiaries; supporting, piloting, assessing and improving courses; completing all paperwork and recording required by the funders working with partners to enrich the programme. 2 Job description: EFT Mental Health & Well-being Coach & Mentor Responsible to the Chief Executive Key aims 1. To support adults in better managing their mental health issues. 2. To redress any disaffection displayed in individuals and to ensure effective transition through key stages in life. 3. To engage beneficiaries with volunteering education, training and employment. 4. To provide support for beneficiaries with specific needs to enable positive development and achievement. 5. To deliver all elements of the programme. Main tasks 1. To address mental health and wellbeing needs of adults in order to support their resilience and raise their future prospects 2. To develop individual plans to help beneficiaries fulfil their potential 3. To engage beneficiaries with a programme of activities 4. To deliver well planned, structured sessions that motivate beneficiaries and advance their learning, either individually or in groups 5. To adopt a range of strategies to meet the needs of identified beneficiaries 6. To offer courses, groups and activities that meet the needs of beneficiaries or the organisation 7. To monitor and document progress and participation, providing constructive feedback to all involved, moderating approaches according to outcomes 8. To build and maintain successful relationships with beneficiaries and fellow professionals 9. To liaise with agencies and partners to support the progress of beneficiaries 10. To demonstrate, develop and utilise knowledge about learning, volunteering and employment 11. To report on a monthly basis to the allocated supervisor, and to the Chief Executive, as required. 12. To be involved in recording, data collection and monitoring progress 13. To report to appropriate bodies as a part of the Education Future s Trust monitoring and evaluation procedures 2
3 There will be elements in the role that will follow a routine, but a large percentage of the work will vary according to the needs of caseload. As this is a developing role, successful candidates will need to be prepared to adapt to meet need. This job description sets out the duties of the post at the time it was drawn up. Such duties may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the duties or the level of responsibility entailed. Skills The successful candidate can demonstrate: 1. the ability to work effectively in a team 2. the ability to organise their time to manage and plan effective programmes 3. the ability to write letters and reports 4. the ability to assess needs, using appropriate tools 5. regular and effective monitoring and evaluation of individuals progress 4

Knowledge The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of: 1. health issues and the relevant services 2. the causes of poor mental health 3. the impact of learning, volunteering and employment upon improved life chances 4. how living with poverty and/or disadvantage can impact upon life chances 5. key behavioural issues. Other criteria 1. To be literate and numerate (GCSE grade C) 2. Teaching qualification to level 3 (e.g. PTLLS) 3. Study at Higher Education level, to equivalent of degree 4.
