2 Main Activities and Responsibilities Customer Responsibilities (Internal & External Customers) To work in conjunction with other members of the Corporate Shipbuilding staff and with the appointed representatives of the Carnival Group operating companies involved in new ship construction, to ensure that the work is carried out in an efficient and coordinated manner. To maintain contact with other divisions within the Carnival Group, Shipbuilders and Professional bodies within the level determined by the VP Technical to continually monitor developments within the field of defined responsibility. Technical (including systems) and/or Professional Responsibilities To develop, and continuously review and amend as required, with the shipbuilder, commissioning and testing procedures that will allow verification that the performance of the ship and its equipment and systems is in accordance with the ship s contract and specification. To liaise with the shipbuilders and agree system pre-qualification review and commissioning programmes that are compatible with the vessel production and delivery schedules. Keep complete records of all test procedures and making sure that updated information and procedures are sent to the site offices for reference and correct implementation To monitor, coordinate and, as applicable, manage the system pre-qualification reviews and testing and commissioning activities of the QC Inspectors and seconded sea staff in the shipyards, to ensure that the work in the shipyards follows the agreed testing procedures. To assist with factory acceptance tests, system pre-qualification reviews, testing, commissioning and vessel trials as necessary to achieve commissioning objectives. To report hazards, deficiencies and where the ship does not comply with agreed design principles, approved drawings and specifications and acceptable marine standards, found during system pre-qualification reviews, testing and commissioning. To discuss the hazards, technical issues/deficiencies and non-conformances found with CCS Technical staff, agree their criticality, document any necessary changes that result and provide clear directives to the Building Managers and QC Inspectors on how to proceed. To coordinate the production of the ship operating manual and assist the ship s staff to implement and if necessary modify the agreed operating procedures for the ship. To manage the completion of the testing and commissioning of equipment and systems after delivery, where performance can only be verified in service. To review the feedback from ships post delivery during the warranty period to ensure that information regarding operational, design and build quality issues are communicated to the correct department for follow up. 3 Administrative Responsibilities To ensure that accurate and comprehensive records are kept of any meetings or agreements held or made with the shipyard, subcontractors or others. To provide regular (monthly) management reports highlighting significant issues related to the defined field of responsibility including progress of the development of commissioning procedures and the actual commissioning programmes. Other / Secondary Responsibilities To continually update the specifications of the vessels under construction or conversion with respect to technical commissioning and assist with the production of the as fitted specification. To review continuously all relevant legislation and company regulations whether in force, coming into force or under consideration that could affect the testing and commissioning of the vessels under design, construction or conversion and informs the VP Technical of the findings accordingly. In conjunction with other CCS personnel involved, draw up the parts of the vessel Protocol of Delivery related to the jobholder's scope of work. General Responsibilities Adheres to Corporate Policies and Procedures, including Code of Conduct, Audit Procedures and any control related responsibility for financial data entered, stored, or reported via business systems within employee s control (list not exhaustive). To undertake ad hoc duties as required. Special Requirements (Equipment Used, External Contacts etc): External contacts are stated above (with the shipyard, site offices ). Other features of job (travel, hours of work, working conditions etc) Travelling to shipyards and other establishments for commissioning work. Attendance at sea trials for each ship before delivery. 4 Person Specification Job Title: Commissioning Manager Department: Carnival Corporate Shipbuilding Education, Qualifications and Training Chartered Engineer with a good knowledge of the design and operation of marine systems (fluid, mechanical and electrical). Masters degree in a relevant engineering subject or an accredited integrate MEng degree Chartered Marine Engineer Experience: Experience of commissioning ship s technical systems and working in shipyards Experience of managing and leading a commissioning team in a relevant engineering field. Work Based Competencies Competencies that refer to the specific work related skills required for successful performance in the role. (e.g. technological competence, written ability, numerical ability, relevant legislative or procedural understanding, analytical ability, organisational ability and project management etc. Must be able to demonstrate attention to detail. Must have the ability understand technical drawings and specifications and to be able to analyse and understand the functionality of systems and equipment. The ability to prepare accurate, cogent, well written and unambiguous documents. The confidence and personality to be able to engage work colleagues in enabling the jobholder to fulfill the responsibilities of the role. Page 4 of 5

5 IT advanced skills (Work, Excel, Powerpoint, Excel ) Good organisational skills and procedural understanding Some knowledge of the process of building a cruise ship and the role of the different stakeholders in that process.
