2 About Ditch the Label and Our Work Launched in 2012, Ditch the Label has quickly become one of the UK s largest and most recognised anti-bullying charities, working to teach young people aged that it s okay to be different. Our award-winning work spans across the UK, working with and aiding young people, parents/guardians, education establishments and other organisations involved with the safeguarding of young people. Our work is internationally recognised and has been heralded as some of the most innovative and ambitious pro-equality work around. Aside from providing direct advice and support and education materials, we also produce some of the largest research surrounding issues of bullying and related behaviours in the world. Throughout 2015, it was estimated that we directly helped over 180,000 young people to overcome bullying. We understand that the issue of equality and diversity has been ongoing for centuries and until now, there have been gaps in provision for interventions that not only work to combat the issues but empower the service users. Our current work includes: Working online, through partnerships with social networks, online games and the media to provide crucial anti-bullying support to those who experience bullying and those who do the bullying; Providing a growing amount of innovative advice and support online through the Ditch the Label website and through owned social media profiles; Working in collaboration with education establishments, social networks and other organisations as a means of producing new, innovative research surrounding bullying and related issues; Utilising the power of the media and innovative content to generate societal shifts in attitudes and behaviours surrounding bullying. 3 Full-Time Community Support Manager: Job Description As the Ditch the Label Community Support Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the scale and direction of our digital support programs, designed to help thousands of young people aged to overcome bullying and related issues each year. You will be primarily working online across two central themes: - Providing and overseeing the provision of digital support across a wide range of areas, such as: bullying, mental health, self-harm, hate crimes, coming out as LGBT, peer pressure and appearance-based anxieties. - Assisting in the management of an innovative new online support community, helping to oversee areas such as moderation, safeguarding of users, community growth, participation along with measurement and reporting of intervention success. We are looking for somebody who has previous experience in providing support to young people, surrounding a range of related issues. Knowledge of bullying and mental health is required for this role, however the successful candidate will be fully trained to deliver the pioneering and innovative support that Ditch the Label provides. This is a managerial role and you will report directly to the CEO. A wider team of support mentors, researchers, strategists and communication professionals, will support you in your role. Your ultimate objective is to oversee the delivery, expansion and development of pioneering digital support, helping thousands of young people to overcome bullying and the impacts that it has upon the lives of year olds. Key responsibilities: Strategic Research and develop advancements in the provision of pioneering digital support and mentorship for young people; Work within the wider team to understand current and future trends within the sphere of bullying, adapting materials and provision accordingly; Helping to oversee the recruitment, training and development of support mentors; Measurement and reporting of intervention success using automated tools; Operational Attend and exhibit at industry events for safeguarding professionals and the wider community of practitioners; Assist in the overseeing of community moderation and user safeguarding; Facilitate peer-advocacy sessions online; Provide one-to-one advice and support to young people online

4 Full-Time Community Support Manager: Person Specification Essential A degree from a leading University with at least 2:1, preferably within the fields of social work, psychology or teaching; A genuine interest in Ditch the Label, our ethos and our work; An understanding and interest in helping young people, with particular emphasis on ages 13-25; Excellent communication skills both verbally and written; Experience that fulfills the key responsibilities of this role, either through work or studies; Ability to take instruction and to work as part of a team; Ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines; Fully trained in safeguarding issues; Experience with online environments; A creative and ambitious approach; and A good sense of humour. Desirable But Not Essential A basic understanding of HTML; Bi-lingual. Please note that this role comes with excellent training opportunities so please do not be discouraged if you do not fulfill the entire criteria.

5 Full-Time Community Support Manager: Technicalities and Compensation Place of work: Middle Street, Brighton, BN1 1AL. Remote working: Not available. Given the nature of this role, it is essential that the applicant is able to fulfill their entire working week within our office environment. Working week: 40 hours per week, between the hours of 09:30 18:00, Monday to Friday. Compensation: 25,000-28,000 PA depending upon experience.
