3 CEO s Message Based on experience and technology accumulated for the past five decades, we will evolve into a national corporation specializing in resource development for another five decades. Korea is a resource-poor country which imports more than 99% of metallic minerals including copper and nickel as well as energy resources such as bituminous coal and uranium. Korea Resources Corporation was established with the aim of contributing to the development of national economy through stable supply of mineral resources which are essential for business. not only engages in overseas resources development but also provides private companies with funds and technologies for resources development at home and abroad. 4 Challenge Investment Business Support Business the Infinite Possibility! A total of 32 overseas resource development projects are operating for stable supply of mineral resources. We also promote joint projects with the domestic private developers to secure more mineral resources, profits, and business opportunities. We help private developers invest in overseas resource development through supporting feasibility studies. 6 Overseas Business Investment Business Overseas Resource Development is participating in 32 projects in 17 countries, focused on strategic minerals that are essential for domestic industries, Six Strategic Minerals New Strategic Minerals Boleo Copper Project in Mexico through direct development and equity investment. We are emerging as a professional resource developer by conducting Bituminous Coal Uranium Rare Earth Elements Lithium As the first metallic mineral development project as an operator, we have concentrated our capability on developing the the Boleo Copper Project as an operator and Korea s largest scale Ambatovy Nickel Project. 12 Research & Development Strengthening Professional Competency Core Technology Development has been conducting independent and industry-academy joint development of source technologies and diverse field technologies to be adopted to exploration, mineral dressing, and smelting with the purpose of securing technological competency necessary for its businesses as well as supports for the private sector. 13 Mineral Resource Information Service Overseas Project (As of January 2017) In order to help private companies make rational decisions on investment, operates the Korea Mineral Resources Information System (KOMIS) to provide the latest mineral resources information at home and abroad and the Korea Mineral Resources Geographic Information System (KMRGIS) which contains domestic geological information and mining status data. In January 2017, we completed the development of Mindex, the first Korean-type mineral aggregate index. The Mindex is released every day through the KOMIS.
