Contact with staff of the Council Contact with people of all ages in the local community School Sports PartnershipsCommunity Sports Network (Sport North Herts) Relevant local organisations for sport and physical activity Job Summary: Working as a junior member of the Active Communities team, and helping them to support members of the community to increase their participation in sport and physical activity Key Responsibilities: 1 Principal Responsibilities To assist the team by undertaking administration tasks for the Active Communities team including inputting attendance figures and registration details for participants of sports programmes such as Sportivate, the Get Active North Herts programme and the North Herts Games. To support the Active Communities Officer to prepare and delivery a range of sport and physical activity development projects that increase the local communities participation in sport and physical activity. These may include but are not limited to Sportivate projects, Satellite Clubs, the North Herts Games, workplace challenges, women s cycling, beginner running and Active Parks..
2 To assist the Active Communities Team and School Sports Partnerships for North Herts and North East Herts in the smooth running of local schools sport festivals and competitions. To assist Sport North Herts, the Community Sports Networks, in the organisation and delivery of the Herts Youth Games. To accompany the Active Communities Team to local sports networks and meetings including Sport North Herts, Active Letchworth, Sport Royston and the Herts Sport Development Officer Group. To deal with general enquiries into the Active Communities Team, via the telephone, and in person, and where necessary referring to other officers in the team. To assist with the management of the resource store, including supporting the Active Communities Team with unpacking and checking deliveries, completing an annual inventory and maintaining the stores in a tidy and organised manner. To work as part of the Active Communities Team to ensure a high quality, cost effective service to the authority. To undertake other duties which may arise or be delegated from time to time. 2 Staff Management None 3 Service Management To ensure the service meets the Council s Customer First Standards. 4 Financial Responsibilities To work within the Council's Standing Orders for Contracts and Financial Regulations. 5 Other Responsibilities To ensure that all dealings with staff and the public are conducted within the Council's Equal Opportunities framework. To comply with all relevant legislation to ensure effectiveness in the role. To have regard for the duty of care of information (with particular reference to the Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act) gained during the course of employment that relates to other employees, the public, contractors, Elected Members etc. The job holder has a personal responsibility, whilst at work, to preserve and enhance health and safety. They must familiarise themselves with the health and safety aspects of their work and avoid contact which would put at risk the health and safety of themselves and other people including visitors, contractors and members of the public To create and maintain authentic, timely and reliable records in relation to your duties. To take due care and attention when gathering, recording and manipulating data and to have regard to guidance issued by the Council in connection with data management.
3 To undertake other duties which may arise or as may be delegated from time to time, appropriate to the grade of the post. To comply with the relevant obligations under Section 11 of the Children Act 2004 and therefore recognise, respond to and refer any child protection concerns following the correct procedures.
