2 About Pink Elephant Company History Pink Elephant started life some 30 years ago in Delft University in the Netherlands. A beer and peanuts company managed and staffed by students during their spare time while studying for their degree. We have come a long way since then, and now you can find us in lots of different locations throughout the world. Not only did we contribute to the writing of the books, we developed and delivered the very first ITIL training courses, we were also first to develop services around the library notably the application of CMM for the assessment of processes, and the use of the Kotter model for Service Management change programmes. 4 Business Communication in IT Report Writing General information The six modules of the course include the following: An introduction to reports: Occasions of use The presentation of a report Style and tone Language use Characteristics of a report Active vs passive voice as used in reports The format and structure of reports: Report sections The covering letter Title page/table of contents/list of abbreviations/glossary of terms The executive summary Introduction and background Objectives, scope and approach Findings/observations/body of the report Conclusion and recommendations Appendices General report writing tips The Course Target group The Business Communication in IT Report Writing Course is designed to provide an introduction to report writing and is therefore especially suitable for: anyone who has a high English-language proficiency anyone who had first attended the Business Communication in IT Intermediate Course/Business Communication in IT Advanced Course anyone who has already mastered the following foundation communication aspects and wishes to learn the foundational aspects of report writing anyone who is required to write reports but who has little to no experience with report writing Knowledge Objective The knowledge objective for the course is to: use textual features and conventions specific to report writing
