7 Vocational Profiling The 2 main Assessment Tools used in the vocational profiling stage of VR programme are Concerns and Expectations The Rickter Scale Tool
8 Vocational Profiling: Concerns and Expectations The Concerns and Expectations Profiling Tool allows the Service User to: Think about what their expectations are of the training programme Highlight any concerns they might have Identify the skills for work they currently have and what skills/experience they would like to develop
9 Vocational Profiling: The Rickter Scale The Rickter Scale is an assessment tool based around a hand-held interactive board, which is designed specifically to measure soft indicators and distance travelled. It supports the Service User to identify Action Plan goals.
10 The Rickter Scale The benefits of the Rickter Scale as an assessment tools are: Easy to use Instantly engages the Individual Helps overcome communication barriers Non threatening and non judgemental Motivates the individual Offers standardisation Helps demonstrate accountability Creates greater self awareness
11 The Rickter Scale The Baseline Interview facilitates the setting of Action Plan goals by providing the opportunity to open dialogue about the difference in their present scale and their desired scale.
12 The Rickter Scale On going assessment is achieved through Rickter reviews. The benefit of reviews are that they provide the opportunity to: Measure progress Be more realistic Set new action plan goals

16 Basic Skills Assessment Basic Skills Assessments are most often used by service users who plan to undertake Essential Skills Literacy or Numeracy training. These assessments provide a guide only and the local colleges will always carry out a more comprehensive assessment before recommending the level of Essential Skills the service user should work towards.
17 Basic Skills Assessment Basic Skills Assessments are also useful tools for ensuring that service users have the level of Literacy or Numeracy demanded by particular courses. The assessment will inform the goal setting process The assessment can help the service user to be more realistic and avoid disappointment

19 Employment and Job Support Profile The Employment and Job Support Profile is an effective assessment tool which provides a framework for discussing: Work options Existing skills and experience Support needs
20 Pathfinders Pathfinders is a software package available online that allows the service user to match their interests with particular jobs It is based on a series of questions which ask they service user what they would like or dislike as part of a job The questions are in the form of a full job match or quick matches based on skills, subjects or talents
21 Pathfinders The full job match requires the service user to complete an interests questionnaire and a work preference questionnaire The service users is then provided with their top 20 job matches with a list of pro s and con s collated from the information provided
