1 ROLE PROFILE Job Title: Fairbridge Programme Executive (Female) Location: Tonyrefail RCT Introduction to The Prince s Trust Youth charity The Prince s Trust helps disadvantaged young people to get their lives on track. It supports 13 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed and those struggling at school and at risk of exclusion. Many of the young people helped by The Trust are in or leaving care, facing issues such as homelessness or mental health problems, or they have been in trouble with the law. The Trust s programmes give vulnerable young people the practical and financial support needed to stabilise their lives, helping develop self-esteem and skills for work. Three in four young people supported by The Prince s Trust move into work, education or training. The Prince of Wales s charity has helped 825,000 young people since 1976 and supports over 100 more each day. Our Vision: Every young person should have the chance to succeed. Our Values are: Approachable we are open minded and value diversity Non-judgemental we focus on the potential not the past Inspiring we lead by example Empowering we enable positive change Passionate we are absolutely committed to supporting young people Context of Work In the UK, currently there are more than 950,00 young people aged who are not in education, employment or training (NEETs). The Trust works with around 55,000 young people across the UK delivered through three English regions and offices in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The Trust delivers its support to young people through teams of staff, volunteers and delivery partners. Each of the regions and countries has a Director who is supported by a Regional or Country Council, which is made up of nonexecutive volunteers. The Trust supports young people through a range of programmes, and operates a network of centres from where the Fairbridge programme is delivered. The Fairbridge programme is an individually tailored personal development programme for young people aged between 13 and 25. It combines one-to-one support and group activities, delivered by a dedicated team. The programme helps marginalised and excluded young people who face a range of issues and barriers in their lives. It empowers them through a range of positive opportunities and experiences and helps them re-engage with society. Responsible to: Fairbridge Programme Manager Responsible for: N/A 1
2 Key Relationships: Fairbridge programme staff within the team Programme Support Co-ordinator supporting the team Outreach, Assessment and Outcomes Team Adventurous Activity Team Delivery Partners and Service Providers Central Operations Team, and other Head Office Functions and Departments as required Accountability: The Fairbridge Programme Executive is accountable for the development of young people through a variety of sessions and courses across a range of mediums, whilst working with an allocated caseload of young people; offering personal development planning to support these young people to gain positive outcomes. They also supervise, coach and mentor Fairbridge programme volunteers. Key responsibilities: Budget: To work with local organisations and directly with young people to recruit for and maximise attendance on our programmes. To provide one-to-one advice, guidance and support for young people throughout the programme To plan and deliver high quality personal development sessions and activities To work with The Trust s Adventurous Activity Team or Delivery Partners to plan and deliver adventurous activity sessions To identify, train and support Delivery Partners and Service Providers who can enhance the programme through delivery of specialist sessions and activities to young people To maintain accurate and up to date paper and electronic records To support, coach and mentor Fairbridge programme volunteers To be responsible for the security of the building Responsible for allocated course expenditure including the hire of facilities and accommodation, resources, rations, and other day to-day running costs Responsible for maintaining and auditing allocated resources Responsible for managing the petty cash for young people s expenses whilst on the Fairbridge programme Responsible for managing own expenses within the financial management guidelines and allocated budget Detailed responsibilities: 1. Ensure timely communication of Access course dates to Referrers and partners in order to assist them with the recruitment of young people onto the Fairbridge Programme. 2. Conduct one-to-one and group inductions to support young people to access the programme. 3. Ensure delivery complies with the stages and processes outlined in the toolkit, the minimum quality standards and any additional contractual obligations 2

Work with The Trust s Adventurous Activity Team or a suitable Delivery Partner to co-deliver group inductions, Access Courses, Follow On residentials and adventurous activity Follow On sessions, actively participating to enable pastoral support throughout. 5. Lead the delivery of engaging Follow On sessions to young people in Personal and Social Skills using various mediums such as sports, arts, digital technology; and facilitate the learning of various life skills such as sexual health, parenting, healthy lifestyle, constructive citizenship etc 6. Assist with the sourcing of opportunities and development of relationships with Delivery Partners or Service Providers, to enhance the delivery of specialist skills and activities within the programme 7. Deliver designated accredited activities and support young people to attain accreditation where possible as an embedded part of the programme. 8. Support an allocated caseload of young people by building effective relationships with young people on a one-to-one basis and within groups, constructively working with young people s behaviour using Fairbridge programme theories of learning and providing high quality information, advice and guidance support throughout the programme 9. Support young people to build their Personal Achievement Record, setting goals with young people using a Personal Development Plan, and monitoring and evaluating their personal, social and life skills developed using The Trust s distance travelled evaluation form. 10. Work closely with the Outreach team supporting them to maintain regular contact with referral agencies: liaising with them to identify and negotiate access to the programme, providing updates on young people s progress through the programme, and receiving information on young people s progress after they leave the programme. 11. Work with Outcomes team to identify appropriate opportunities and strategies with external agencies to enable young people to move on from the Fairbridge programme successfully 12. Provide day to day supervision, coaching and direction to Fairbridge programme volunteers. 13. Support the implementation of multiple external funding contracts or initiatives (local and national) to ensure requirements and outputs are achieved 14. Maintain accurate and up to date records, paper and electronic, as required by The Trust or external funding contracts and in line with The Trust s data protection policy 15. Carry out other duties as may reasonably be required by The Trust, including deputising as appropriate on activities relevant to area of responsibility and attending all necessary internal/external training courses and management/steering group meetings 3
4 Reporting responsibilities: To supply information as required by the Fairbridge Programme Manager. PERSON SPECIFICATION. The successful candidate will be experienced in working with young people from The Trust s target group and dealing with challenging behaviour. They must have the ability to facilitate personal and social development of young people, and should be able to demonstrate that they understand the challenges that face disadvantaged young people in their area. They will also have an enthusiasm and passion for the work of The Prince s Trust and a conviction to deliver high positive outcomes for the young people we support. Criteria Essential Desirable Skills and Knowledge: Strong understanding of the challenges young people within The Trust s target groups face Good verbal and non-verbal communication and interpersonal skills Ability to effectively develop rapport with young people and establish appropriate relationships Ability to deliver high quality group sessions in a range of different mediums Excellent knowledge of health and safety practices and processes Knowledge of risk management procedures Good planning and organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities Ability to work on own initiative to find creative solutions to problems Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Awareness and understanding of equal opportunities and the ability to translate these into effective action Experience: Demonstrable experience of youth work Experience of facilitating personal and social development of young people, with awareness of issues affecting target group Ability to lead and deliver a range of different activities e.g. dance, drama, sports, arts, music, media, cooking, digital technology, adventurous activities Ability to deliver accredited training courses (such Knowledge of local area and community infrastructure Knowledge of health and safety, safeguarding and confidentiality Experience of competently assisting on adventurous activities 4
