1 EPMO Portfolio Senior Analyst Enterprise Portfolio Management Office, Strategy and Governance The role is tasked with the technical leadership of the portfolio analysis function, including the development and implementation of standards and methods and overseeing the work/mentoring of Portfolio Analysts. The role also leads portfolio analysis assignments of a complex nature and provides timely analysis advice and support to all EPMO staff members. Accurate and timely advice on the content and health of the Portfolio is also a responsibility of the role. 2 The Department of Internal Affairs What you will do to contribute Portfolio Analysis Practice Leadership Lead the development, implementation, evaluation and review of Portfolio analysis tools, standards, methods and policies in line with best practice. Scan the horizon for relevant domestic and international industry developments that may impact the department s portfolio analysis processes and recommend any changes to the Manager Portfolio Analysis & Coordination on required interventions Act as a subject matter expert within the EPMO providing support and advice to EPMO colleagues on any issues arising Support initiatives to build the capability of portfolio analysis Coordinate portfolio analysis quality assurance processes Contribute to the development, implementation, evaluation and review of EPMO quality management processes and standards Document and implement any new workflow processes and procedures aimed at reducing risks and/or improving quality Provide support and advice to EPMO staff members in the analysis of programmes and projects Support the Manager Portfolio Analysis & Coordination and Principal Advisor EPMO As a result we will see Up to date tools, standards and policies are implemented in line with best practice Initiatives to build portfolio analysis capability are implemented Quality management processes and standards are clear EPMO staff members are supported Page 2 of 5

3 The Department of Internal Affairs What you will do to contribute Portfolio Planning Support the Manager Portfolio Analysis & Coordination to provide high quality and informed recommendations to ELT on programmes and projects to be included/deleted from the portfolio plan Lead delegated portfolio analysis assignments of a complex nature Analyse portfolio viability and make recommendations on the programme/project mix to the decision-makers Provide strategic portfolio analysis advice of all programmes, projects and interdependencies, reporting anomalies or areas of concern to the Manager Balance/optimise the portfolio in terms of strategic goal attainment versus delivery capacity/capability and business as usual priorities Manage the prioritisation model Work alongside business managers or business change managers to identify additional opportunities for benefits realisation Analysis and Reporting Provide high quality analysis to support the decisions of Governance committees: o Feed into the review of appropriateness and deliverability of the portfolio o Monitor and mitigate the relative business priorities and risk profiles Track and report on the realisation of benefits by the business Track and report on Portfolio Dependencies Assess the impact of change requests for their potential effect on benefits realisation As a result we will see Clear recommendations on what is to be included in the portfolio plan and key priorities Prioritisation model is managed appropriately Benefits realisation for projects are clear and planned Reporting is accurate and provided in a timely manner Benefits are tracked, monitored and reported on Reporting methods are constantly evolving to provide key information to the business on the portfolio Page 3 of 5
