1 Press Release Anniversary edition of annual industry event achieves record results Switzerland's leading event for packaging and logistics was well received by 5,243 visitors debut of Logistics & Distribution a complete success Zurich/Muttenz, 15 April 2016 On 6 & 7 April 2016, 5243 attendees came to the annual industry event for packaging and logistics in Zurich and set a new visitor record for the four-part show: Empack, Packaging Innovations, Label&Print and Logistics & Distribution. The visitors had the opportunity to discuss concrete projects, make new contacts and do business with the 300 exhibitors that occupied the four halls of the show. A diverse show programme featuring expert lectures, workshops and guided show tours accompanied the exhibition. "In our eyes, this industry event was a great success a fitting gift to celebrate the anniversary of Empack," said Christian Rudin, Head of the Swiss Event Unit for Easyfairs Switzerland. This year Empack, the trade show for innovations in packaging technology, saw its tenth edition in Switzerland. According to Christian Rudin, "The Easyfairs Packaging Event is one of the year s industry highlights and sets the beat for many packging specialists. As at previous editions, Empack was exploited intensively as a platform for networking and in-depth discussions, as well as for business deals." Also taking place under the same roof were the trade shows Packaging Innovations, the event for packaging solutions, design, POS and brand building; Label&Print, the show specialised on print, marking and finishing technologies; and, for the first time,logistics & Distribution, a new platform for intralogistics, material handling, distribution and e-logistics. "Logistics & Distribution not only turned out to be a visitor magnet, it also proved itself an ideal platform for showing innovative products and solutions," summarised Christian Rudin. "The huge interest in the premiere shown by exhibitors and visitors alike and the broad support by renowned trade organisations pleased us immensely and encouraged us to try and eke out even more synergies between packaging and logistics at the next edition, to offer the public the greatest possible value." Expanded show concept inspires visitors Visitors to the two-day event experienced a completely new Packaging Event, one that now includes topics from the area of logistics and distribution. "We worked on the concept intensively with our exhibitors and partners and it really paid off. The visitors were enthusiastic about the many new offerings," said Christian Rudin. Under the rubric of "Visions and Values" the Packaging Event seized upon industry mega-trends to compose a diverse and colourful show programme. Panel discussions on hot topics and short lectures at the learnshops and Packaging Art House in Halls 4-6 gave audiences the chance to learn about where the industry is headed, what the latest applications are and what to expect in market developments. Workshops like the PackagingCamp conveyed exclusive know-how on product development, brand building and design. 2 visitors and young professionals. Likewise, the offerings of Easyfairs competence partner GS1 Schweiz, as well as the Logistik Talks and the Networking Zone in Hall 3, met with terrific resonance. Exhibitors happy with the market-oriented show format Two days of highly concentrated business, intensive networking and a modern stand concept: this is what convinced exhibitors at Empack, Packaging Innovations and Logistics & Distribution to participate in the top Swiss event for packaging and logistics in The companies reported being satisfied with the many specific requests and the flood of visitors. Besides decision-makers and specialists with technical backgrounds, in 2016 many professionals from the areas of purchasing, sales, marketing design and advertising also came to Zurich for the show. The central question is: how can packaging continue to develop under the constraints of sustainability, creativity and individuality, without simply becoming a burdensome production cost that should be kept as low as possible? Although you may feel that you've been to every event there is, the Packaging Art House and the variety of different lectures and stands made for a wonderful amtosphere for effortless networking. We'll definitely be back next year with another special and unexpected stand concept. The new concept is well-wrought and worked great! The atmosphere was inspiring and pleasant, the experience almost like a visit with friends the lounge. My overall impression: The event was a complete success. The Packaging Art House will return in June to Empack@CeMAT in Hannover and to Packaging Innovations in Hamburg. The atmosphere was overall good and even more optimistic than last year. Expanding the show by including Logistics & Distribution makes sense, and the trade public seemed to enjoy it. Now, the whole process chain is represented in one giant event; that generates good synergy effects. All of the show participants benefit from that." 4 Marcus Hapig is new show manager for the Swiss Packaging and Logistics Event Since 11 April 2016, Marcus Hapig is the new Head of Event resonsible for Logistics & Distribution, as well as for Empack, Packaging Innovations and Label&Print in Switzerland. He confirms: "The goal is once more to manage and execute the four shows from Switzerland. This has the advantage that, from the viewpoint of the market that is the exhibitors and visitors we can maximise the synergies without the shows losing any of their identity. Because each show has its own target groups, and we want to continue to do right by them in future as well. The talks with the exhibitors whom I've gotten to know personally over the course of these two days have been very positive, and they've also confirmed that the concept that we've launched onto the market is still very much alive. The benefit of folding the fields of distribution and logistics into the packaging shows is clear. Despite the 300 exhibitors all in all a high number this event is still very compact and promises to provide the visitor an excellent overview of the market. That's what impressed me so much in Zurich. I think it's a good basis for building out the leading Swiss trade show for logistics and packaging."
