3 BTECH (LOGISTICS) INFORMATION ON QUALIFICATION The University of Johannesburg (UJ) offers the Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Logistics on a NQF level 7. The programme is offered part-time on the Auckland Park Bunting Road Campus (APB), and classes are currently offered twice a month on a Friday during the day. 2. CONTACT SESSIONS (Only in Johannesburg) Four subjects per semester, compulsory class attendance for each subject. Lectures consist of seven single full day workshops offered during the day per semester. This occurs approximately twice a month. Classes are thus twice a month during the day and students may need to obtain leave from their employees for these workshops. 3. DURATION OF QUALIFICATION One year qualification. 4. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS National Diploma in Logistics, or a National Diploma in Purchasing from the University of Johannesburg and students should have a 65% average in their 3rd year majors. Students having a National Diploma in Logistics or a National Diploma in Purchasing from another university may be required to do certain Bridging subjects before commencing with the BTech (Logistics) degree. The Bridging subjects are offered full-time only. Students having a National Diploma in Retailing from UJ may likewise have to complete certain other subjects first before commencing 3

Students who have completed the 2 year Diploma in Logistics cannot apply for the 4th year level BTech (Logistics) degree. Students having other National Diplomas such as Retailing, Operations Management, Quality, etc. may likewise have to complete certain other subjects first before commencing with the BTech (Logistics) degree. All applications are subject to selection criteria and the best possible candidates will be selected. 5. LEARNING PATH Student who obtain an average of 65% or better in the BTech (Logistics) programme may apply to be accepted for the BCom (Logistics) Honours programme. Acceptance to this programme is however subject to normal selection processes. 6. ASSESSMENTS Various assessments take place during the course of the qualification. These can take the form of assignments, tests, presentations, case studies, exams and others. A minimum semester mark of 40% is required to gain entrance to the examination. Semester mark (50% of final mark). One theoretical examination (50% of final mark). 7. APPLICATION / REGISTRATION Complete the University of Johannesburg application form (available on the internet: Closing date for application: September 2018 to study in the following year (2019). 4

5 BTECH (LOGISTICS) 2019 Attach certified copies of your highest academic qualifications and first page of your identification document to the application form. Remember to sign the application form on the last page. It is recommended that you enroll for 2 (two) subjects in the first semester and 2 (two) in the second semester. CURRICULUM/COURSE CONTENT (broken into years) Registered learners will be supplied with detailed learning guides. Textbooks can be obtained from all major suppliers and suppliers on Campus.
