1 2014 International Seminar on INNOVATIONS FOR FUTURE TRANSPORTATION International Forum on Innovative Railway (IFIR) International Forum on Eco-friendly Vehicle System (IFEV) March 11-12, 2014 COEX Grand Conference Room, Seoul, Korea In cooperation with International Union of Railways (UIC), Korea Railroad Research Institute (KRRI) is holding 2014 International Seminar on Innovations for Future Transportation on March 11-12, 2014 at COEX in Seoul, Korea. This event is composed of two international forums - International Forum on Innovative Railway (IFIR) and International Forum on Eco-friendly Vehicle System (IFEV) to share the perspectives of future transportation technology. IFIR emphasizes the importance of innovative ideas and developments for railway systems and IFEV will gather the leaders in transportation field to discuss the technologies, policy and standardization for environmentally friendly vehicle systems. Many experts and professionals in the railway and transportation industries from several countries are participating in IFIR and IFEV. The participants include Director General of UIC, Transport Division Officer of UN Economics & Social Commissions for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP), Director General of Railway Research Institute of Russian Railways (RZD), Chairman of Czech Railway Research Institute (VUZ), President of Russia Petersburg State Transport University (PSTU), President of Korea Railroad Cooperation (KORAIL), Chairman of Korea Rail Network Authority (KRNA), and more. We are still waiting for the participations of other important guests and we will be happy to welcome you in this valuable event International Seminar on Innovations for Future Transportation will be a meaningful and valuable opportunity for the international cooperation. It is a great chance to meet the worldwide experts and to draw the picture of innovative future of transportation.
2 WELCOME REMARKS I am pleased to announce that Korea Railroad Research Institute (KRRI) is holding 2014 International Seminar on Innovations for Future Transportation in cooperation with International Union of Railways (UIC). As the conventional development of railway systems only focused on speed increase and safety, it is now necessary to step forward to new technologies in order to improve the quality of our lives with greater satisfaction and convenience. Innovative idea for the future railway system is what KRRI values the most to overcome the limitations of existing railway systems. The two forums of the seminar, International Forum on Innovative Railway (IFIR) and Eco-friendly Vehicle System (IFEV), will give the outlook of the innovative future of transportation. In IFIR, We will share the efforts on the innovative approaches in railway development. IFEV will gather the leaders of the transportation field to discuss the technologies, policy and standardization for environmentally friendly vehicle systems. I would like to invite you to the 2014 KRRI international seminar to share our vision and to draw the picture of innovative future of transportation with worldwide experts. Co-organized by KRRI and UIC (International Union of Railways), this forum focuses on the future-oriented railway systems and innovations by railway technologies in other fields.
