News items written specially fr the site, based n stries fund in the press n tpical issues (accessible with r withut a user accunt) enable users t subscribe t feeds f these 2. Mechanism fr discussing the issues raised in the stries Ability t cmment n news items, eg: Mderated discussin facility 3. User prfiles Must be pssible t set different mderatin/admin/editing permissins Enable users t label (tag) items/ther users/news stries and t stre them in their prfile Enable users t ffer feeds f their stred items, and t imprt feeds frm ther places (eg Facebk, Ggle, Blgger, del.ici.us) Enable users t add cmments t their public prfile (a bit like a blg) and t cmment n ther peple's They must have the cntrl t mderate these befre they g live n their prfile and t delete them at whim The prfile keeps a recrd f all the user's activity n the site The user must be able t determine what is public and what isn't The prfile must be able t be cntrlled by the user, and be cmpletely safe fr them. 4. 4 Cntent Specificatin Financial risk picture Develp a game/exercise that builds up a persnal picture f financial risk, fr each f the eight issues (see annex f themes). Stre this picture in the user s prfile. It shuld make reference t all r the majrity f themes listed in Appendix A, in particular crime, health, envirnment and ging verseas. It shuld take the frmat f a simple questinnaire based n the individual s perceptin f their wn risk in certain areas, which can be used t build up a picture f the verall scial, ecnmic and envirnmental risk t sciety. We wuld like this activity t have the ability t save their answers int a prfile (linked t specificatin as abve), and t build up a picture f risk acrss all users based n pstcde, schl, and regin. We appreciate the limitatins f nt having any necessary back-end bits in place, e.g. databases and appreciate that the draft may be mre cnceptual than in full wrking rder. It shuld, hwever, cnvey yur apprach t the way in which fun and interactive methds can prvke reflective thught. It shuld use the minimum f text-based infrmatin, and instead use games, exercises, etc. Teaching resurces We will prvide the text fr these, which must be accessible bth as web pages and dwnladable files. The web pages must be easily created and edited, including adding hyperlinks, by thse with little technical expertise. Technical Specificatin Accessibility The site must cnfrm t WCAG AA, including anything created by a cntent management system. 7 Appendix A: Ecnmic citizenship themes and issues The designer will have respnsibility fr the creative and cnceptual aspects f the site and this area in particular. The medium must appeal directly t yung peple and encurage return visits. It shuld use the minimum f text-based infrmatin and instead use games, exercises, and ther interactive methds that encurage reflectin n the themes and issues. These may be directed at individual users r invlve a number f users t make them mre dynamic and unpredictable. The Citizenship Fundatin will act as cnsultant, t discuss and expand n the themes and issues and citizenship educatin in general, s the designer has a gd understanding f ur apprach and mtivatin. In the tables belw are the themes we wuld like cvered in this area. Attached t each theme is a list f issues (mstly in the frm f questins). These are underpinned by the verall aim encapsulated as Learning utcmes at the bttm f each list f issues. Overarching themes t cnsider: The main themes f the website are centered arund ecnmics and financial issues, but there are a number f key ideas which are returned t thrughut the prject: Insurance prtecting the individual, sciety and the planet against future risk. The envirnment hw financial decisins have an impact n ur lcal, natinal and internatinal envirnment.
