2 Create a Diagram Adding ideas and tpics Use these three ways t add tpics and ideas t yur diagram: Click nce n yur tpic > then click the create buttn t add an idea t yur selected tpic. It will appear in the directin f the highlighted pinter. (Ideal fr structured thughts and ideas) Linking ideas Click nce n yur tpic > then click RapidFire t add ideas directly assciated with yur selected idea. After clicking n RapidFire, type yur idea > then press Enter n yur keybard > repeat type and enter as many times as yu like. Fr randmly placed ideas simply click n the backgrund f the diagram and type yur idea. The crss indicates where the idea will be placed. (Useful fr getting an idea n the page whilst remembered) Use the link tl t cnnect un-linked ideas. Select the primary idea, (the tpic frm where the idea riginates) > click the link buttn > then click the un-linked idea yu want t cnnect t. This will create a link with the arrw flwing in the right directin. Persnalise yur map clurs, shapes & pictures Why nt use clur, shapes & pictures t help shw relatinships f ideas and t aid memry recall. The fllwing tlbars are used t persnalise the appearance f yur diagram. First select (click nce) yur idea befre yu make a change t it. These are yur basic idea shapes Yu have libraries f shapes, pictures & phtgraphs Search fr specific symbls r pictures here Scrll dwn t find different categries f symbl libraries* 14

Ntes allw yu t expand yur ideas and actually begin the writing prcess, whilst cntinuing t wrk in a visual frmat. T add a nte: Select the idea t which yu want t add a nte (click nce) Click n the tlbar Type (r cpy & paste text) Clse the nte if yu dn t want it visible click the crss (X) in the tp-left crner f the nte windw T shw r hide the nte, click n yur idea > click the Nte icn Hyperlinks: Fr each tpic r idea in yur diagram yu can add an autmatic link t a web page; file; r anther Inspiratin dcument. Attached files culd be dcuments, spreadsheets, presentatins, pictures r audi recrdings. These hyperlinks will allw yu t quickly access infrmatin frm ther surces, which culd cntain imprtant infrmatin r research. Select a tpic r idea Click > Hyperlink n the tlbar Type in the webpage r Select File t attach a file available n yur cmputer Click OK

4 Yur idea will then appear underlined > Arranging yur map family tree r spiders web Click n the underlined wrd/s n yur idea, t g t the linked file/page. If yu dn t want t arrange the diagram yurself then click the Arrange buttn and let the sftware d it fr yu. Let Inspiratin re-arrange yur diagram t a balanced Web appearance r shw hierarchy t yur ideas by switching t a tree appearance. Simply click > chse the arrangement. Click > AutArrange if yu want new ideas t take n the same appearance as the rest f the diagram Click > Mre Optins t rearrange lwer branches f ideas Outline View re-rganise yur ideas After yu have added yur ideas in the diagram view, yu can cntinue t develp and rganize them in written frm by using the Outline view. Click > Outline in the tp crner f the tlbar t see yur diagram in linear frm. Changes yu make in the Outline view autmatically change the appearance f the Diagram view, and vice versa. Use these buttns t change the imprtance (hierarchy) f tpics T re-rder tpics just mve up and dwn by dragging & drpping in the side clumn

5 Transfer t Micrsft Wrd When yu have added as much infrmatin and ideas as yu require, yu culd print the diagram r Transfer the diagram and/r Outline view t Micrsft Wrd. Click > Transfer Include the diagram? Chse what yu want t transfer Create a mind map If yu prefer the mre traditinal, structured map appearance Click > Create a Mind Map The map has tapered branches, which smartly adds sub-tpics in the same clur. The ideas appear n the branches as text-nly, n shapes are initially visible. Hwever, just like creating a diagram yu can add shapes and pictures creating a persnal map specific t yur visual needs. Adding ideas and tpics ways t add tpics and ideas t yur diagram: Use these fur Click nce n yur tpic > then click the Subtpic buttn t add a branch nt yur selected idea. (Ideal fr structured thughts and ideas) Click nce n yur tpic > then click RapidFire t add ideas directly assciated with the selected tpic. After clicking n RapidFire, type yur idea > then press Enter n yur keybard > repeat type and enter as many times as yu like Or Click n the at the end f the branch and a new branch will appear > Type yur idea

6 Fr randmly placed ideas simply click n the backgrund f the map area and type yur idea. The crss indicates where the idea will be placed. (Useful fr getting an idea n the page whilst remembered) Linking ideas T link yur un-attached ideas just hld yur muse n the randm idea > drag twards the related tpic, yu want t link it t > when the dtted green arrw appears, let g > the idea will then link ff that idea. Persnalise yur map clurs, shapes & pictures Yu may want t shw that there is a relatinship between tpics, helping t make a cnnectin when cmpleting yur prject. Click > 1 st tpic Click > Relate buttn Click > 2 nd tpic Nte: yu can label the line but this wn t shw in the Outline View
