1 ADDENDUM #1 February 2, 2018 PROJECT: Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University McComas Hall Roof Replacement IFB# Blacksburg, Virginia TO ALL BIDDERS: GENERAL: Addenda are part of the Contract Documents and are issued to amend or interpret the Drawings and Specifications. The Addenda shall be acknowledged in the Bid Form Division 0 Section in the space provided for addenda acknowledgement. CHANGES AND CLARIFICATIONS GENERAL: See Attachment A to Addendum #1 for Pre-Bid Sign in sheet from the Mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting held at the project site on January 31, 2018 at 10:00 am. See Attachment B to Addendum #1 for project scope of work. This scope of work will be incorporated as part of the contract documents and all bidders shall review scope of work before placing bids. All other terms, conditions and descriptions remain the same. The bid closing date remains February 20, 2018 at 2:00 PM; the bid opening date remains February 21, 2018 at 2:00 PM. This addendum will be posted on VT Procurement website at

3 Work Order Name: McComas Hall Roof Replacement WO#: G Client: Lindsay Kidd Project Location: McComas Hall Date Issued: 1/31/2018 Attachment B All work is subject to the VT Renovations Standard Conditions dated 2/16/2013. Scope: 1. Provide all labor, materials, and equipment required to complete a code compliant roof replacement in accordance with the contract drawings for the G McComas Hall Roof Replacement prepared by Cornett and Cundiff dated October 18, Work includes but is not limited to the removal and disposal of existing roof, installation of new roof, and certification of new roof. If a conflict exists between the drawings/specifications and this scope of work, the more stringent shall apply. 2. Contractor shall maintain a clean working environment and shall properly dispose of any debris which is created form this contracted work in accordance with all local and state guidelines. Contractor shall take care to clean the work site and surrounding traffic areas as needed. Contractor is responsible for removing demolished materials in a clean, safe, and efficient manner. Debris shall not be transported through the building. A dumpster will be allowed on site, location is to be determined by the owner. Dumpsters should be emptied on a regular basis as needed. 3. Contractor shall be responsible for any damage caused by this contracted work, by their employees, or subcontractors to the immediate project site and project pathways to and from the site. This includes, but is not limited to damaged doors, walls, electrical/mechanical systems, façade, sidewalks, roadways, etc. 4. Contractor shall provide a CPM schedule within (5) business days of receiving the Notice to Proceed. Contractor shall submit an updated schedule with every pay application. Failure to submit an updated schedule will result in rejection of the pay application. 5. Contractor shall coordinate with the VTR project manager to create a site logistics plan. The site logistics plan shall clearly identify staging areas, crane locations, egress pathways, dumpsters, porta-johns, and anything else related to the logistics of the project. This logistics plan will be reviewed and approved by the client and facility personnel of Virginia Tech before mobilization.

4 6. Contractor shall adequately staff the project at all times to ensure the project maintains its substantial and final completion dates. Contractor shall notify the VT Project Manager within 24 hours of identification of all potential schedule delays. Upon reporting a schedule delay, the contractor shall provide a narrative outlining a schedule recovery and provide a recovery schedule within 48 hours. 7. Any delays in the project schedule caused by deficient work which has been rejected by the University Building Official or the roofing QA representative shall be the responsibility of the contractor. All cost associated with remediating the deficient work, including but not limited to inspector fees, additional materials, labor, etc., shall be borne by the contractor. 8. Contractor shall provide all submittals and applicable samples within (5) business days of receiving the Notice to Proceed. This shall include a submittal register. All submittals shall be submitted in digital format, via , and reviewed for compliance prior to submission to VT Renovations. 9. Contractor shall be responsible for the safety of his employees while working on the roof which includes all temporary fall protection required per OSHA standards during the roof replacement. 10. Contractor shall abide by the VT EHS protocols throughout the duration of the project. Coordinate with EHS any time cranes or hoists will be used on site. Contractor shall be responsible for notifying and receiving approval from the Blacksburg Airport and providing all necessary documentation to the FAA for cranes on site. 11. The FAA is to be notified 7 days in advance of any crane being mobilized to the site. Contractor will be responsible for completing the proper Crane Mobilization Request forms and submitting to the FAA. 12. Crane inspection sheets and crane operator certificates shall be shown to the project manager for record prior to any crane activity. 13. Coordinate all roofing activities with the VT Renovations project manager and roofing QA representative on a daily basis. 14. Contractor shall be responsible for providing a means of temporarily protecting the roof from potential roof leaks caused by delamination during the EPDM tear off process. 15. Contractor will be responsible for all signage required to redirect traffic for any sidewalk, plaza decks, or road closures caused by his work. 16. Contractor will be responsible for providing all signage and flaggers needed for road closures required for trash removal, material deliveries, and any other work to require road closures. 17. Roofing materials may be stored on site at location specified by PM. Contractor shall be responsible for any damage caused to the staging area and will be responsible for the restoration of the grass, sidewalks, etc.

5 18. In the event of a rain day, contractor shall provide an individual to walk the building to ensure there are no active roof leaks. If an active roof leak is found, then contractor shall take action to fix the leak immediately and correct any damage incurred within the building. 19. All roofing materials shall be kept in the designated staging area identified on the site logistics plan. Contractor shall be responsible for securing materials before leaving the site each day. Any Materials stored on the roof are to be tied down and secured so as not to blow away during a weather event. Any damage caused by the stored materials and trash shall be rectified by the contractor. 20. Contractor shall be responsible for the acquisition of Porta-Johns as the indoor restrooms may not be available to construction contractors and employees. 21. Contractor shall be responsible for the demo of the ballast and the removal from the site. It is up to the contractor as to where the ballast shall be taken. 22. Contractor shall neatly organize and secure demolished EPDM onto pallets for Virginia Tech to remove. Pallets shall be removed from site by Virginia Tech. 23. Contractor shall provide spotter/ground man at all entrances/pathways to and around the building while materials are being taken on or off the roof via crane. 24. Square footages, dimensions, and sizes/locations of roof-top equipment are approximate. Contractor is responsible for the field verification of all site conditions prior to submitting a bid.
