We are governed by an independent Board and have a Participation Agreement with these councils. We are responsible for approximately $3.2 billion of essential service infrastructure and our residential and business customers are spread across 5223 square kilometres, from Cooroy in the north to Samford in the south, Bribie Island in the east and Kenilworth in the west. Our priority is providing a population of approximately 724,626 people with a high quality, safe and reliable water supply and sewerage service that is economically and environmentally sustainable. Your Opportunity The Systems Loss is responsible for monitoring, reporting and reducing leakage across the water networks. This role is involved a wide range of network activities from daily network leakage monitoring; investigating zone pressure issues and to developing sustainable strategies for long term network improvements. 3 Your Accountabilities Key functions of the role include: Managing leakage detection activities including the targeting of leaks, technical resolution and reporting. Manage smart operational systems relating to leakage ensuring they are operating within the required specification. Interface with the Planning Team and engage contractors as required to repair leaks within agreed timeframes. Managing the reduction of Non-Revenue Water within supply areas through an understanding of customer usage and leakage rates. Maintaining the network through the effective leakage targeting through District Metering Areas (DMA); integrity tests; flow meter verification tests; boundary valve confirmation; property counts and billing data verifications. Develop strategies for long term network improvement and DMA monitoring and administration. Liaising with bulk water agencies regarding capturing of bulk water data and calibration certificates of bulk supply meters. Interface with the Planning team to coordinate the installation of new DMAs through planned network augmentations. Identify areas of the network suitable for Pressure Managed Area (PMA) set up, reconfigurations and/or pressure reductions that will reduce leakage and help extend distribution life of the pipe network. Analyse and provide information on key factors that may impact network leakage. Reflecting emerging technologies and theories in developing water loss reduction management at Unitywater. Maintain DMA Operations and Maintenance Manual modifications. Participate in Unitywater safety audits and inspections to demonstrate visible safety leadership and participation. C Class Drivers License. Within the context of the duties and accountabilities described above, the ideal applicant will be someone who has: Extensive operational experience in Pressure Leakage Management in District Metered Areas and Pressure Managed Areas. Previous working experience in the field of Non-Revenue Water, Leakage Management and Leakage Analysis and Techniques, including management of and implementing leakage targets. Demonstrated experience and success in delivering technical outcomes during times of elevated urgency by applying a systematic and deductive approach to complex problem solving, gathering and processing relevant information and delivering confident decisions for time critical resolution to operational risks. Demonstrated ability to follow tasks through to completion, delegating priority tasks as required to ensure operational risks are resolved in appropriate timeframes. Demonstrated ability to multi task and manage own time to meet critical priorities. Demonstrated willingness to develop technical competencies within a multi discipline technical team.
