2 ABOUT SAPUTO DESIGN For some people, it s about clothes. For others, it s sports. But for us, it s cars. Objects of desire, expressions of style, technological marvels cars communicate on so many levels that the creative possibilities are endless. Over the past 14 years Saputo Design has helped launch more than 20 new automotive models, working with industry leaders such as Chevy, GMC, Hyundai, Infinity, Kia, Lexus, Mitsubishi, Saturn and Toyota. For each project, we began with a solid brand strategy, and translated it into a distinctive, integrated creative approach that showcased these great companies. We invite you to view our Saputomotive car collection, which highlights some of the best work we ve done for the automotive industry. We admit it when it comes to our passion for cars, we can t help ourselves. But we can help you.

3 OUR HISTORY OUR BEGINNINGS After forging successful careers in the world of design and advertising, Tom and Dana Saputo left the corporate world in 1997 to set up their own creative shop, Saputo Design, Inc., in Sausalito, California. In 1998 the company was incorporated and moved to Westlake Village, California. Saputo Design, Inc. is an independent graphic design firm with no agency or holding company affiliations and is located at 870 Hampshire Road, Suite D, Westlake Village, California. WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO At Saputo Design, Inc., we specialize in interpreting strategy to create an integrated brand experience that spans a variety of media. We can provide design, layout, and art direction for print or web, and production capabilities such as photography supervision, custom illustration, art buying, print production coordination and web programming. Companies across the US have engaged us for conceptual development, application of brand messaging in logo development and usage, annual reports, print ads, collateral, packaging and interactive efforts. While we ve worked extensively with automotive clients, we also have expertise in biotech, travel and tourism, retail, financial services, start-ups, entertainment and nonprofit organizations. Known as the agency for ad agencies, we ve also been called in to help large and small agencies alike solve creative problems. As a result, we re proud to have some of the world s most recognizable brand names in our portfolio.

4 KEY PERSONNEL TOM SAPUTO President, Executive Creative Director Recognized nationally as a leader in the design industry, Tom brings to Saputo s creative team 25 years of award-winning experience in advertising and branding. For the past 15 years, his artistic vision and branding expertise have made Saputo Design one of the most sought-after creative studios in Southern California. Tom s distinctive work has been recognized for excellence in a number of major design and branding competitions, including The Clio Awards, D&AD, LA Beldings, Lulus, NY Art Directors Club, The One Show, and SF Show, as well as in magazines, such as Applied Arts, Communication Arts, How, ID and Print. Prior to co-founding Saputo Design, Tom helped develop creative solutions for some of the world s most famous brands, including Lexus, Saturn, Sprint PCS, First Union Bank, Alamo Rent A Car, Peet s Coffee & Tea, and The Bellagio in Las Vegas. DANA SAPUTO CFO, Managing Director As CFO and Managing Director, Dana has management oversight and responsibility for all financial functions for Saputo Design. Her leadership and sound business judgment have helped establish Saputo Design as a strong and thriving company, with a talented staff and diversified client base. Before co-founding the agency 15 years ago, Dana enjoyed an eclectic career in advertising. She honed her skills in corporate finance, account management, and business development working for a number of industry powerhouses including J. Walter Thompson, NY, where her clients included The Wall Street Journal, Circuit City, Lubriderm Lotion, Clairol Hair Color, and Bubblicious Bubble Gum; and Foote, Cone and Belding, S.F., where she handled world class brands such as Armor All, California Raisins, and Pillsbury. Lastly Dana moved to Hal Riney and Partners, SF, where she managed the Alamo Rent A Car and Peet s Coffee & Tea accounts, and began working with Tom Saputo. Their professional partnership and shared creative vision led to the exciting launch of their own creative agency, Saputo Design.

5 KIA DEALER BROCHURES ( ) For 10 years we supported Kia in their quest to become a tier-one automotive company. We paid particular attention to elevating their photography, and offered guidance to ensure that all marketing materials reflected the same integrated design.

6 KIA SOUL AUTOSHOW LAUNCH For the Kia Soul launch at the LA Auto Show our solution was a multi-faceted, interactive approach centered around a collection of Soul Cards rendered by various artists from around the country.

7 KIA SOUL BROCHURE The Kia Soul was a car in search of a target demographic. Kia wisely decided to position the Soul as an alternative to the Gen Y Scion buyer. The catalog was designed to integrate with David & Goliath s ad campaign a new way to roll.

8 KIA DEALERSHIP AND AUTO SHOW MATERIALS Dealerships and auto shows provided the perfect forum for reinforcing the Kia brand image. To help Kia elevate their image and project a strong, consistent brand, we helped them design primary dealership display graphics and advised on design templates to be used by their vendors.

9 GMC DEALER BROCHURES ( ) GMC takes great pride in its professional-grade vehicles. To support this positioning, we recommended replacing the brand s traditional studio photography with all terrain action shots to show the vehicles professional-grade capabilities. As shown here in the model year 2008 brochures, the vehicles capabilities along with their superb design are equally on display.

10 THE ALL-NEW GMC YUKON HYBRID The GMC Yukon Hybrid was more than the world s first full-size SUV to utilize true hybrid operation. It was also GM s chance to showcase its world-class technology and dedication to the environment. Our assignment was to create collateral and auto show materials that promoted GM s innovative technology, while helping the company forge a new green identity.

11 MITSUBISHI BBDO LA asked us to create a timeline highlighting Mitsubishi s 90 years of technological achievements and victories on the racetrack. A History of Making History appeared at auto shows around the world and in various dealerships. Historical Timeline for Auto Show & Dealership Displays Proposed Graphics Standards Manual

12 LEXUS HYBRID Little known fact: Lexus has more luxury hybrids than any other manufacturer. The challenge was to get the word out to consumers by creating an integrated creative look that could work in all media. Partnering with Team One Advertising, we delivered a variety of creative concepts, one of which was chosen as the foundation for the campaign rollout.

13 LEXUS BRAND GUIDELINES This comprehensive graphic standards manual was the foundation for establishing Lexus new brand guidelines. It included rules for the use of typography, color, logos and dealership displays. An online version of the guidelines made them accessible on-demand to Lexus corporate users and authorized vendors.

14 LEXUS GUIDE TO VALET PARKING We created The Lexus ES Insider s Guide to Valet Parking for the launch of the ES. It was distributed at select promotional events around the country, including the USTA U.S. Open. The Guide was not only a big hit with valet personnel and the ES target audience, but also caught the eye of the editors of Communication Arts, who featured it in CA and Print Magazine.
