2 INSTITUTIONAL FRAMEWORK Statistics Lithuania is responsible for collection of all the statistical information on agriculture and its responsibilities are laid down in the Law of National Statistics. Regulation No223/2009 of the European Council on the Community Statistics Data are collected by conducting complete enumeration and applying sample methods. The prepared information is used by state, municipal and scientific institutions to shape agricultural policies, providing aid to agricultural producers in line with the EU principles

8 CALCULATION OF THE SUPPLY BALANCE SHEET Statistics Lithuania is responsible for calculation of the supply balance sheet which comprise: Cereals, legumes, potatoes, rice, fruit, vegetables; Sugar beat, treacle, honey; Olives, oil plant seeds, vegetable oil, oil cakes, grape wine; Total meat: beef and veal meat, pig meat, sheep and goat meat, poultry meat, rabbit meat, variety meat and fat; Milk and dairy products; Eggs and egg products; Animal and vegetable fats.

9 FARM STRUCTURE SURVEYS AND AGRICULTURAL CENSUSES Statistics Lithuania is responsible for Farm Structure Surveys and Agricultural Census: Farm Structure Survey before 2010 every two years after 2010 every three years Agricultural Censuses every ten years.

10 Statistics Lithuania Calculations on agriculture output, intermediate consumption, added value, production volume indices Estimation of the results of Agricultural activity (first and second estimations) Statistics Lithuania provides data on EAA to Eurostat. Statistics Lithuania is responsible for the compilation of the Agricultural Income Index DIVISION OF LABOUR Economic Accounts for Agriculture The Ministry of Agriculture The final figures for the EAA are produced (in Sept y t+1 ) by the Agrarian Institute of Economics (part of the Ministry of Agriculture) and they are submitted to Statistics Lithuania The Agrarian Institute of Economics is also responsible for calculation Unit values for agricultural products, EAA in prices n-1, and in prices 2000

15 USE OF ADMINISTRATIVE DATA SOURCES Administrative data are used for various calculations The Ministry of Agriculture provides data from: the Cadastre Register Agricultural and Rural Business Register (Register of Agricultural Holdings) Livestock Register Crop Register for subsidies Economic Indicators on the Activities of agricultural partnerships and enterprises. Organic farming register The Institute of Agrarian Economics is responsible for the FADN data collection Register of Population Register of Addresses
