8 V8.3 SCM+ ARCHITECTURE» SCM ERTs transmit the Standard Consumption Message (SCM) - Reading, Tamper Data, ERT Type, ERT ID The SCM has a fixed architecture» SCM +: - Inherent data limitations SCM+ expands all the data fields to provide extended life to ERT Technology - Expands SCM from 7 to 10 digits - Now inline with our traditional meter reading data length Tamper/Status - Expands from 4 bits to 16 bits - Allows us to communicate new data such as a battery life indicator Endpoint Type (ERT Type) - Expands to allow values up to Will be managed as a Type and Sub-Type - Allows us to distinguish between old, new and future endpoints with varying features and their distinct data processing needs

17 ITRON MOBILE COLLECTOR UPGRADES» Itron SRead Radios are required Many utilities need to budget for new mobile collector radios» These mobile collection devices will be capable of processing SCM+ given the proper firmware and software upgrades: MC3 models DCU , DCU and DCU DL are SCM+ compliant when used along with Mobile Collection Software v3.4 or higher released in Mid 2011 and along with the application software listed earlier - MC3 model DCU can be enabled for SCM+ given the proper hardware upgrade at the Itron service center. MCLite models DCU and DCU DL are SCM+ compliant when used along with the application software listed earlier - MCLite models DCU and DCU can be enabled for SCM+ given the proper hardware upgrade at the Itron service center.
