1 San Diego Gas & Electric MDM Project Approach Jerry Sugerman October 21, 2008
2 What s Driving our AMI Project? California has a significant issue meeting the current and anticipated future demand for electricity in the state The CPUC has mandated the large IOUs in the state to implement Smart Metering solutions and introduce enhanced Demand Response capabilities The business case for the project includes both hard savings (eliminated truck rolls, elimination of manual meter reading) as well as soft savings (decreased demand) California is a VERY green state and conservation is a major play here avoiding the need to build new generation facilities
