3 Proposing a NEESR Project NSF CMMI Solicitation # NEES Research Due 4th Friday in March 5:00PM local ( Mar 26, 2010) Categories Core Research (CR) $75,000 - $400,000 per year for up to 3 years Simulation Development (SD) $100,000 per award for up to 2 years Payload $100,000 per award for up to 2 years Must use one or more of the 15 NEES equipment sites advance knowledge discovery and innovation for (1) earthquake and tsunami loss reduction of our nation's civil infrastructure, and (2) new experimental simulation techniques and instrumentation for NEES.

11 Developing an Experimental Plan Project is tentatively scheduled on our calendar 6-12 months prior to testing Develop details experimental plan Starting and ending date include Setup time Reconfiguration Number, types and placement of instrumentation Takedown time Demolition time Bathymetry or other specimen construction requiring contractor work Drawings bathymetry, instrument location, structural specimens Evaluate shared resources

12 Developing an Experimental Plan 2-4 months prior to testing Bidding process initiated for any large contractor work Weekly and daily testing plans developed (excel) Estimate 30 min between waves Build in contingency days, plan should be flexible

13 SAFETY Safe operations are our top priority Every visitor working at the site is required to: Complete a safety orientation Sign an OSU liability waiver Site safety plan at Follow safety rules at all times Follow facility staff instructions at all times Attend the weekly facility meeting Hours of operation M F 8am to 5pm
