3 Project Number: C Building Number: C Fire Station #11 Grounds Project Description: Repair Asphalt Parking Lot Background: The asphalt parking lots in the front and back of the fire station exhibit significant degradation. The front parking lot shows extensive alligator cracking and raveling. The back parking lot has alligator cracking and a cracked and broken curb. Full depth reclamation of the parking lots is recommended. Scope: Perform full depth reclamation, seal coat and restripe parking lot asphalt. 4 Project Number: C Building Number: C Fire Station #11 Project Description: Repair & Paint Exterior Background: The painted wood board between the two metal louvers on the back side of the building is degrading at the surface. The landing exhibits surface failure and the paint of the steps is peeling. The painted exterior wood door at the landing is blistered and peeling and is lacking a complete seal around the frame. Also, some of the wood soffit panels are unfinished or have peeling paint and small areas of the stucco are blistering and cracking. Lastly, the entrance door is in need of weatherstripping at the base and an outside electrical outlet should be replaced. Scope: Repair and paint louver trim board, wood stairs, landing, wood exterior door, wood soffit panels, and stucco siding. Install weatherstripping under the front door and replace outside electrical outlet. 5 Project Number: C Building Number: C Fire Station #11 Project Description: Repair Miscellaneous Interior Issues Background: There are a number of small areas inside the building that are in need of minor to moderate repairs. The threshold of the men s restroom of the first floor has come loose and needs to be reattached with preparatory work done to the joint. The men s restroom sink on the left hand side needs caulking and the adjacent wood of the counter has begun to warp, possibly as a result of this. An electrical fixture and outlet lack covers and the wood ceilings of the second floor have some water spots. Scope: Repair men s restroom threshold and counter. Caulk the sinks, install covers to electrical fixture and outlet, and repair wood paneled ceiling. There are a number of problems with the drywall, mainly on the second floor where there are some stress cracks and unfinished remodeling to the walls. Left undone in the remodeling are sections of drywall that need painting and an area of exposed framing. Scope: Clean carpet, patch cracked and damaged drywall, install surface covering to exposed framing, and paint areas in need. Scope: Thoroughly inspect the roof for leaks and make necessary repairs. Assumptions: Cost of repairs to the roof will be estimated after the extent of required repair is determined. The roof should be replaced. Also,kfkqa ridge beam appears to be sagging slightly and there are stress cracks in the drywall of the firehouse. A thorough inspect of the buildings structure should be carried out in order to make certain that there are no serious problem developing within the structure. These include raveling, alligator cracks and linear cracks in excess of ½. Some cracks are interconnected forming small pieces of asphalt 6 or less in size. Scope: Clean and prepare the surface. Cut out severely deteriorated sections and repair. Perform 2 inch mill-and-overlay. Assumptions: The sub-base is sufficient to support excessive strain of large vehicle loads. The parking lot on the west side of Fire Station #14 is roughly 4,800 square feet and shows block cracking and spalling. The recommended treatment for this parking lot is 2 inch mill-and-overlay. About 8,500 square feet of the larger parking lot is also part of the grounds and has fatigue cracking with a section of upheaval caused by tree roots. A thin HMA overlay and full depth patching for the section of upheaval is recommended for this pavement. Both pavements will need restriping as well. Scope: Use 2 inch mill-and-overlay for west parking lot asphalt pavement. Apply an HMA overlay and partial depth patch east parking lot. Restripe both parking lots.
