8 Is Zero Carbon possible? What does it mean? In 2010, the NHS England carbon footprint was composed of building energy (24%), travel (17%) and procurement (59%). Direct & indirect emissions from the hospitals site (Scope 1), from energy produced by 3 rd parties (Scope 2) and from the hospital supply chain (Scope 3).
