2 CONTEXT October 2016 : Mosul battle OCB sent an exploration team : enough actors to cover basic needs for IDPs few actors involved in trauma care moving frontline meaning : the distance from first aid posts and the referral hospitals in Erbil will increase during the time a lot of red cases will not reach the hospitals alive mobility would be an added value in this context Conclusion: Decision from the Epool and log departement to implement an old idea: A mobile surgical unit.

4 TACTIC High flexibility including a mobile capacity (5 containers on trailers : Hospitanair) Rapid deployment and Rapid re-packing «Plug and Play» «Ready to use» minimal autonomy ( electricity, water, material, drugs.)

5 ACTIVITIES Developped in 3 weeks with in Hospitanair (1 med - 3 logs tech and 1 log tac) The MUST arrived in december without drugs, complicated supply in Irak Ready to deploy end of January Set up the MUST in Hamahamalyl, south of west Mosul in order to receive wounded from te west battle ( 15 km from the frontline)

6 SOME DATA Cost : +/- 1 M Expedition design: by road / boat / air Number of patients treated during the acute phase ( 1 month and 1 week): 1800 patients (trauma and emergency med cases in need of life saving) 400 red cases more than 20 % of red cases 800 yellow cases all poly trauma MCP each days.

8 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION MSF DIY concept Concentrate of MSF knowledge in recycling containers Responding to a medical / operational need. 2 X 40 KVA generator with 300 liter reservoir + back-up 500 W and 4 kva generator +UPS for med equipment Autoclave can be run with electricity and gas Fridge running on 24V batteries Space use as much as possible 3 trailers with 800 l clean water and 800 l grey water collector reservoir Storage in labeled lidded plastic boxe organized on shelves, maintaine by elastique band for transport. 22/06/2017 MUST 1- Log Co week
