Highlights for May Integrated Waste Management Facilities the way of the future? 103 new projects covered in 31 countries, with a total value of US$3.9 billion. billion Of the 1, waste development projects reported in the Waste Business Finder database in the 12 months to May 2014 and analysed in this issue of Waste industry Sales Monitor,, 22 were for integrated waste management facilities (IWMF). This takes the annual total to 1,404 projects in 123 countries, worth US$52.7 billion. There has been growing interestt in IWMF as the treatment of a wide-range range of waste types with specialist technologies on a specific site has a number umber of operational benefits. Equally so, the prospect of industrial scale waste handling is unlikely to appeal to the local community. Top Five Waste Types in May 14 1 MSW 2 Organics 3 Plant Biomass 4 Wood 5 Plastics Waste-to-Energy still dominates This must be kept in perspective. Waste Business Finder also reported 350 developments over the same period in Waste-toWaste Energy with an average development value of US$109 million confirming g WtE is still the technology of choice for most operators. Guides to Global Waste Management Developments pments in 2013 Typical of this development is the Ivry--Sur-Seine site outside Paris, France. This is the development of a current curr WtE plant and the proposal oposal is to provide Anaerobic Digestion, Waste-toWaste Energy, Recycling and Incineration in a single facility. First mooted in 2003, work is expected to start in d at 860 million, compared to the IWMF average development value of US$179 million, could such mega plants be a blue print for the future? See all the projects and all the details All the 103 projects reported in May 2014 and analysed in this issue are listed at the back full detailed of each project's scope and content, along with key contact data, can be found in detail in AcuComm's Waste Business Finder database.
