PURPOS OF JOB: To support the increase and retention of employment chances, work placement, apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities for young people who access the bursary scheme and learning travel scheme, through supportive action planning and where possible referral into alternative internal and external educational and employment agencies/providers. Promote a vibrant culture with an uncompromising commitment to excellence and fully integrated support and development services, reflecting the needs of those accessing the service. Be part of an outcome-focused team that is responsive to the needs of young people and dedicated towards achieving positive education, employment and training aspirations. Work to ensure provision consistently reflects best practice, is financially viable and offers outstanding value for money. Work with line management, young people and staff to ensure that performance targets and contractual requirements are met and exceeded. nsure that all client related data is recorded accurately and in a timely and planned manner. To work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team that works with young people to help identify and meet their personal, social, learning and work needs. RSPONSIBL FOR TH MANAGMNT OF: Young people accessing Learning Bursary /Administrators/Volunteers The Centrepoint Bursary Scheme The Learning Travel Fund. Finance and administrative procedures within the Accreditation and Curriculum Team and for the Head of Skills & mployability. Skills & mployability, Learning 1

2 4. KY ACCOUNTABILITIS: Finance Control Staffing Make sure that all onsite finances are handled, monitored and recorded accurately in accordance with Centrepoint procedures. Make certain all purchases and suppliers are processed in a timely manner on IPOS Review and support budget management of the bursary scheme Attend regular structured support and adhere to Centrepoint s 1:1 meetings procedures, appraisal policy. Service elivery nsure the implementation and adherence of Centrepoint s Bursary policy and procedures across the service. To devise and implement a communication system with staff that ensures their understanding of the opportunities available and enables them to promote bursaries accordingly. To develop and maintain operational oversight of Centrepoint s bursary scheme, ensuring that processes are streamlined and fit for purpose. To establish, implement and administer the total bursarial application, selection and awarding process from application stage to final award. To coordinate the development and launch of new Centrepoint bursary schemes, including promoting new schemes to all Centrepoint young people and staff. To maintain accurate records of all bursary funds awarded, and develop new methods of reviewing the impact of the bursary scheme. To maintain a directory of funders who can provide alternative grant/bursary options to Centrepoint young people during and post residence. To manage the Learning Travel Fund, including liaising suppliers in order to buy tickets in bulk, ensuring these are used appropriately according to the rules of the scheme, and maintaining accurate records. To create and maintain policies and procedures for staff to promote and work effectively with our client group, leading to the sustainment and achievement of their employment, education or training aspirations. To continually develop and implement new ways of working to streamline processes. To work closely with relevant Centrepoint teams and individuals to identify bursary needs and risk factors for young people. evelop and foster positive relationships with all internal and external stakeholders; representing Centrepoint professionally. To effectively promote the service internally to young people and staff. Prepare and provide high quality professional reports for internal and external stakeholders as part of an ongoing schedule of requirements, and specific reports when requested, in a timely manner. Participate in the regular cycle of internal audits. nsure that Centrepoint s internal recording system is maintained accurately and in a timely manner. Skills & mployability, Learning 2

3 nsure that all aspects of young people s files are at Centrepoint s required professional standard and that all aspects of the ata Protection Act are followed. Support staff to maintain precise and up-to-date client related paperwork and databases. nsure that all support offered to young people is delivered in line with contractual obligations and in accordance with best practice models. nsure that the Bursary offer is suitably responsive to the welfare of young people including child protection and vulnerable adult issues: in accordance with local requirements and Centrepoint s policies and procedures Celebrate diversity by ensuring that all Centrepoint s equal opportunity and diversity policies and anti discriminatory practices are adhered to. 4 Person specification etailed below are the type of skills, experience and knowledge that are required of applicants applying for the post. Ideally the successful candidate will hold a degree or an equivalent professional qualification. 2. xcellent verbal and written communication and able to influence at all levels. IT skills necessary to undertake all administrative and reporting requirements. Numeracy skills sufficient to manage financial requirements involved in a project. 3. Able to accurately maintain files and information recording systems in a timely manner. 4. Able to effectively manage, advice, coordinate facilitation of regular bursary panels and its members. 5. A good understanding of welfare reform and current structures of the welfare to work sector. 6. Able to manage workload to meet a range of conflicting deadlines, reprioritising workload to reflect crisis situations and changes in deadlines. 7. A strong and demonstrable commitment to promoting Centrepoint s quality and iversity in all work undertaken. AF/C AF/T I I 8.
