1 JOB DSCRPTON Post: Responsible to: Job Purpose: Marketing Manager The Principal To be responsible for the Marketing Strategy and team, managing cross-college services to both external and internal customers with particular focus on School Liaison, publicity, brand image, on-line media, promotional material and College events. Key Tasks: To work with the Principal in developing the College s strategic marketing and communication goals in line with the College s strategic plan. To create and implement the annual marketing and communication plan. To be responsible for smooth operation of College Marketing, PR, vents and School Liaison. To support Directors of Learning and their curriculum areas in the development of marketing and communications tools / activities that proactively promote courses, student achievements, facilities, new innovations, etc. Attend and participate in all Marketing and School Liaison meetings. nsure all action plans are executed in a timely manner. To oversee the organisation of and publicity for major College promotional events, such as taster days, induction/enrolment evenings, parents evenings, open evenings, awards evenings, launches etc. To raise the profile of the College and enhance the College s reputation. nsure the team is maximising on and off-line marketing opportunities using innovative communication channels, to promote the College provision. To carry out and act on market research to ensure the continued progression of the College. n particular, applications, interviews and enrolments from our partner schools. To manage and monitor all internal marketing to ensure consistent brand image. To oversee the production of all College prospectuses including H, F, Part time and PCDL including course information, photography, design, print and distribution. To oversee the entire creative process, including copy writing where needed, for advertising, publicity and marketing campaigns, creating full campaigns to aid the recruitment and retention of students and uphold the College brand.
2 To ensure a programme of regular visits of school careers teachers, careers officers, community groups, business organisations and other clients to the College and promotional activities at schools and community organisations promoting the College offer. nsure the College s website is up-to-date and appealing to its target audience for the purpose of marketing, promotion of courses, their successes and inspiring potential students to participate in the full College experience. Also to contribute, manage and monitor the College s social media activities to ensure wider market reach and to build and grow a larger audience base. To measure the effectiveness of the College website and social media platforms through qualitative and quantitative statistical analysis and report to SMT recommendations for improving the service. Quality mprovement To oversee the production of high quality, accurate marketing materials, ensuring compliance with equality and diversity regulations, availability in a variety of formats and suitability for students with disabilities. Produce and monitor the Marketing Self Assessment Report (SAR) and Service Level Agreements. To undertake the evaluation process for all marketing campaigns and work with the Principal, Deputy Principal and Directors of Learning on development plans to improve future campaigns. To actively seek, develop and manage any possible opportunities for development of systems and processes that will directly benefit the College. Human Resource Management Be a pro-active line manager and an excellent and inspiring role model for the Marketing and Schools Partnership Team. Manage and be accountable for the performance of marketing staff within the area. Take prompt and decisive action if a member of staff is under-performing, in line with the College s HR and Quality procedures. Participate in the recruitment and selection process for new staff in accordance with the development of the College and in conjunction with HR. Provide and support induction for new staff, contract and agency. Facilitate re-induction for existing staff. Manage the process of probation and appraisal for the team, act on the outcomes and link to training and development plans Report and manage staff absence. n the event of short-term staff absence ensure appropriate duties are covered within the area to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum and in the case of longterm absence, to ensure appropriate staff are put in place. Provide advice to staff about appropriate continuous professional development training and to ensure individual competence is maintained to support the College aspirations to move to outstanding 2
3 Health and Safety nsure awareness and compliance with relevant legislation within the area, including maintenance of comprehensive and up to date risk assessments. nsure that Safeguarding, Health and Safety, very Citizen Matters and quality and Diversity are effectively embedded into every aspect of Marketing, vents and School Liaison. Finance Develop and agree the annual budget, in liaison with the Assistant Principal, Finance, Funding and Planning and actively monitor income and costs for the area to ensure they are in line with agreed budgets on a regular basis. Produce plans as necessary to monitor any variance. To co-ordinate financial administration and purchase of promotional material supplies for events and external distribution of materials e.g. prospectus mailing. Liaise with Finance over queries. To negotiate third party / supplier rates, e.g. advertising, promotional items, creative agency, etc, securing beneficial discounts through block, repeat, higher volume, subscription and other booking incentives that fully maximise marketing effectiveness and efficiency. Other Responsibilities Keep up to date with relevant legislation, procedures and techniques for the efficient executing of the role. Be conversant with and participate in activities and developments at College, at regional and national level which are relevant to the post. Present and promote an appropriate public image in representing the College. Corporate Responsibilities Work effectively and efficiently in your role to support the achievement of the College s strategic plan (mission statement, goals and key objectives). Promote and support the development of a culture of continuous improvement. Work to deadlines. Negotiate in advance, with appropriate individuals any required adjustments. Negotiate and achieve role-related and personal aims, objectives and targets through a programme of appraisal and professional development. Work collaboratively with all departments within New College Stamford and our partners. nsure all communication is open, clear and distributed in an appropriate format, in a timely manner. Support the College s business-focused approach by working collaboratively with other managers across the College. Champion a positive approach to work life/balance and a healthy and safe environment for all stakeholders. Adhere to the College Health and Safety Policy and safety rules, taking responsibility for your own actions and those of the staff within the area. 3
4 Be responsible for the safeguarding and welfare of children and young persons within and around the remit of Marketing and School Liaison. Participate in the College s appraisal process.
