2 EVENTS AND TRAINING ACTIVITIES The Department of Human Resources develops and coordinates training programs and systems that address the College s training needs and provide professional growth for our employees. Please discuss your training needs with your supervisor before enrolling in any workshops. Participation in training during work hours will be dependent on operational needs and requires approval by the supervisor. In addition, the following must be satisfied prior to attendance: all prerequisites must be met; sign-up must be complete; and assessment process must be completed by manager or supervisor to determine developmental need of the employee and relevance to the job. If you are interested in additional training this semester, please contact the Director of Human Resources on extension 7506 or bstovall@ramapo.edu and we will try to offer it in the future if possible within budget constraints. Please take advantage of these opportunities and sign up as soon as possible.

3 HEALTH & SAFETY TRAINING H202 Bloodborne Pathogens Training Training to prescribe safeguards to protect workers against the health hazards related to Bloodborne Pathogens and thereby reduce the risk of occupational exposure to Bloodborne diseases such as Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and Hepatitis B. If you would like to arrange this training for your unit contact Gina Mayer-Costa. Ongoing through the semester TBA TBA H204 Hazard Communication Training (formerly Right to Know) For all faculty and staff who may be exposed to hazardous substances during the course of their work. Ongoing through the semester TBA TBA H214 Back and Lifting Safety Training Ongoing through the semester TBA TBA Presenter: PEOSH and Gina Mayer-Costa H228 Office Clean Up Day Open To: Administrative staff The Campus Health and Safety Committee has dedicated this day as the campus wide Administrative Staff Clean Your Office Day. Excessive and haphazard office storage is a safety and fire concern and this is a good opportunity to review files and clean up our units. Extra recycle and trash bins will be in the core of each building. Friday Jan 18 All Day ALL OFFICES H236 Fire Extinguishers at Work This training will review the basics of the proper uses of Fire Extinguishers and Emergency Evacuation procedures. WELLNESS ACTIVITIES SAVE THE DATE-April 24, 2012 April 24 is National Walk at Lunch day. Grab a coworker and take a walk. Simply getting 30 minutes of moderate physical activity, such as a brisk walk, at least five times a week has significant health benefits, lowering the risk of developing or dying from cardiovascular disease, hypertension or type 2 diabetes, and improving the health of muscles, bones and joints. Visit to learn more.

6 SAVE THE DATE-April 30, 2013 Don t miss out on the opportunity for a free cardiac health screening. On Tuesday, April 30, Bon Secours Charity Health System will offer employees free onsite health screenings for cardiac risk. Screenings include cholesterol, blood pressure, waist circumference, height, weight and a personal health profile. The screening will take place in SC 219 from 10:00 a.m-2:00 p.m. Pre- registration is required. Please jcbrown@ramapo.edu if you would like to attend. Follow up your cardiac screening with a free 10 minute chair massage. Information will also be available on diabetes and disease management. A representative from Horizon BCBS will also be on hand. If you are enrolled in Horizon BCBS and have an iphone, you now have access to a Horizon Blue app that will provide you with essential information right at your fingertips. You will be able to access online provider directory and claims information. 7 HOW TO REGISTER FOR A WORKSHOP Workshops and seminars are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. To register for a workshop you may either: Complete a copy of the form below (for each program make a copy of the registration form with all required information and supervisor signature) and mail to Elaine Harm. eharm@ramapo.edu, copying your supervisor. You will receive a confirmation notice approximately one week prior to the start of the program, whenever possible. If space is no longer available in a specific course, you will be notified. Prior to registering for a program, it is important to discuss with your supervisor the time commitment associated with your participation in a specific program. Your supervisor must authorize enrollment in the training. Also, please note any pre-requisites required prior to registering for the technology workshops.
