1 Regional Development Coordinator Responsible to: Director of West Midlands Mental Health Commission and MHFA Regional Development Lead (jointly accountable) Location: West Midlands Overall purpose of the role The Regional Development Coordinator is part of the West Midlands Combined Authority MH Commission team, and is responsible for supporting delivery of a range of West Midlands based strategy, policy developments and supporting the delivery of the ambition to train 500,000 people in the West Midlands in MH Awareness. This includes providing the necessary administrative support to the team, coordinating logistical and administrative event requirements, including coordination of regional MHFA instructor networking meetings. The Regional Development Coordinator will also support events directly as either an assessor, or support under the direction of the MHFA England s Regional Development Lead. Key Tasks Supporting the delivery of the MH Commission ambition and strategy development 1. Assist in developing the strategy and delivery plan for improving mental health awareness across the region. 2. Support the MH Commission Director in influencing changes to national and regional policy 3. Develop strong links with FE/HE/Business and wider stakeholder partners to implement mental health awareness within their organisations 1

2 4. Support the development of the Wellbeing devolution agenda with central government 5. Seek to generate funding opportunities to support delivery of MHFA across the region 6. Develop the existing MH Commission Citizen jury to support a peer led/service user by experience voice for local training delivery 7. Create, manage and maintain relationships with MHFA instructors and partners to develop engagement opportunities and ensure ongoing commitment to MHFA England s vision to reach its goal in training 1 in 10 people in England 8. Support and maintain the strategic partnership between the WM MH Commission and MHFA England Coordination of volunteers and staff 1. Facilitate the volunteer network which supports and underpins the WM Thrive Strategy. Ongoing recruitment and support undertaken by the WM Thrive. 2. Develop quarterly MHFA instructor networking events and engagement opportunities to increase regional presence, awareness and support 3. Ensure effective engagement between the MHFA central team and instructors 4. Proactively market and promote MHFA resources to engage and support skills development 5. Support the delivery of the training within the programme 6. Join in MHFA central activities as required including Annual events, attend central office 1 day a month for 1:1s 7. Maintain records, policies and guidelines in accordance with MHFA England s policies. 8. Work with MHFA England s Marketing and Communications Team to agree appropriate marketing strategy for the region, generate instructor and MHFAider testimonials and to develop internal communications strategy to keep Central Team up to date with regional developments and activities 2

3 Venue management and coordination 1. Day to day venue contact and coordination 2. Support Training Delivery Officer in securing venues for all regional events Event coordination and administration 1. Support event planning, preparation, delivery and wash-up processes 2. Additional resource development to support training events 3. Purchasing training resources and food for events 4. Invoice and expenses processing 5. Support administration of online learning programmes Other Responsibilities: 1. To undertake any other duties as required by the Mental Health Commission Director and MHFA England 2. To step in and support assessment and training events in the event of volunteer / staff absence 3. To support the organisation of any WMCA MH Commission training sessions / courses. 4. To maintain confidentiality over personal information relating to WMCA or MHFA England s staff, volunteers, partners and clients 3

4 Person specification Experience/ Qualifications Essential To be passionate about MHFA England s and WM Mental Health Commission aims and ethos Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills with an attention to detail Excellent interpersonal and written & verbal communication skills Strong information technology skills (i.e. Outlook, Word, PowerPoint & Excel) Enthusiastic and energetic personality who has a 'can do' attitude Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively both within the team and inter-departmentally Flexible approach to the hours worked to meet the demands of the role Ability to work autonomously and adapt to changing requirements Desirable Experience of working with diverse communities Previous MHFA England or equivalent training experience Ability to present confidently in front of groups of people Experience of using databases First aid qualified to equivalent of HSE Emergency FA at work and MHFA England Two-day course Demonstrable experience in a similar role at an equivalent level and in a comparable or related sector. Experience of working within a training environment Experience of event and venue management co-ordination 4
