3 About Dove House Hospice Dove House Hospice is a charity providing excellent care for people in the local community with life limiting illnesses. We are specialists in palliative care, which is the total care of patients whose illness is no longer curable and for whom the goal must be quality of life. Our services are available to anyone over the age of eighteen years who has an illness which can no longer be cured. Care is provided for patients with cancer, neurological illnesses, heart diseases, respiratory diseases, HIV/AIDS and many other illnesses. Our care incorporates physical, social, psychological and spiritual support delivered by a multi-professional team who embrace the family and significant others throughout the patient's illness. Dove House Hospice is maintained by funds raised in the local community and support from the local Clinical Commissioning Group and so there is no charge for any of our services. Set in beautiful gardens, Dove House Hospice is a 'home from home' where patients and their families can feel at ease in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The patient and their family are at the centre of everything we do; the patient - not the illness - is the focus of our care. We aim to give not only specialist care but special care, embracing our patients with warmth, understanding and friendship whilst offering them and their families guidance and support during difficult times.

VISION: Shop Manager Emmaus Regional Manager Dove House Hospice Director of Business and Income Development Retail Any premises operated by Emmaus Hull April 2015 April 2017 Emmaus communities are a group of social enterprises that provide a unique and innovative solution to homelessness. The communities offer homeless people companionship, a place to live and work, and an opportunity to integrate back into mainstream society. Emmaus communities are predominantly self-funded through the sale of donated goods. They are run, much like cooperatives, with companions contributing as much as they are able. Dove House Hospice supports patients with life limiting illnesses to live every moment. It is our vision to provide a sustainable, comfortable and caring environment in which to offer exceptional, specialist palliative care to patients, carers and their families. All roles throughout our organisation contribute to making this vision a reality for those living in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire who rely on us to provide the care that is right for them, in the place of their choice. 3. JOB SUMMARY: 1. Be responsible for the efficient and effective day to day management of an Emmaus retail outlet. 2. Be the main key holder for the store, attending emergency call outs as necessary and allowing access to the emergency services, contractors, etc as required. This may involve working outside normal hours. 3. Be responsible for achieving the sales budget, and gift aid budget. This will include analysing epos reports and taking necessary steps to maximise the sales in the store. 4. Be responsible for sorting, categorising and pricing all donated goods, this will involve the careful separation and barcoding of Emmaus donations, and support stock from Dove House Hospice as defined by Emmaus and Hospice Policy. 5. Visit the Hospice Storage and distribution Centre as and when deemed necessary to identify and allocate support stock to an Emmaus store. 4. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Be responsible, if required, for the management of any other Emmaus Shop in the absence of any of the Shop Managers, as directed by Dove House Hospice Retail Division Manager/Regional Manager. 2. Be responsible for the security of all shop monies, including petty cash, daily takings and bankings, as required and directed by Dove House Hospice Finance Department. 3. Be responsible for ensuring effective safety and security of the shop premises, including risk assessments, safe systems of work and departmental induction training. 4. Be responsible for the recruitment of, training of and duty rotas for volunteer staff, including Emmaus companions ensuring adequate staffing in liaison with the Regional Manager, in the relevant shop premises under his/her control. 5. Be responsible for maintaining the shop in a clean and orderly condition, and using analytical reports making the best use of space to maximise income.

5 6. Be responsible for reporting immediately to the Regional Manager findings of cash, valuables and personal papers amongst goods donated to the shop. 7. Be responsible for barcoding all donated stock carefully identifying, separating, and tracking Emmaus donations and Dove House Hospice support stock as required. 8. Be responsible for all store administration, including, induction training packs, financial documents, gift aid administration and till procedures amongst others. 9. Be responsible for carrying out necessary Fire Safety Precautions and for promoting a positive attitude towards health and safety, security and fire, in line with Organisational Policy. 10. Have a delegated responsibility for the implementation of the Emmaus and Dove House Hospice General Policy on health and safety throughout the areas and activities under direct control, having a good understanding of the regulations, approved codes of practice and guidance which govern those areas and activities. 11. Be involved in the compilation of and compliance with the Health and Safety rules, policies and procedures formulated by the organisations management as defined in the Emmaus and Dove House Hospice General Policy on health and safety and their individual health and safety responsibility folder. 12. Be responsible for ordering supplies through the Retail Administration Assistant to ensure the efficient operation of the shop. 13. Be responsible for ensuring compliance with Trading Standards Regulations in line with Organisational Policy, reporting any non-compliance to the Regional Manager. 14. Be responsible for adhering to all current recycling procedures as set out by the Regional Manager. 15. Be responsible for reporting all accidents, injuries and incidents occurring at the shop under his/her control. 16. Supply information as required by Dove House Hospice Retail Division Manager/Regional Manager and any authorised representative of Emmaus Hull including voluntary hours, stock control, holidays, sickness and absence. 17. Be responsible for the training and development of all other paid and voluntary staff members in your retail outlet. 18. Attend meetings as directed by the Retail Division Manager/Regional Manager. 19. Attend relevant training courses, as agreed with the Retail Division Manager/Regional Manager. 20. Undertake any other relevant duties as reasonably requested by the Retail Division Manager/Regional Manager. NB This job description may be amended in consultation with the post holder in the light of on-going, changing Organisational needs. 5.
