This position conducts performance audits of City departments and contractors, and performs more routine duties while learning City policies and procedures and becoming familiar with the variety of departmental systems and practices. As experience is gained, duties become more diversified and are performed under more general supervision. The current Auditor I opening is with the Performance Audit team. This classification is used throughout the department which contains the Public Health and Mental Health Divisions and are responsible for the planning and management of public health and mental health programs and collaborative activities with a focus on health equity. The assigned program duties may change with evolving needs of the Department. TYPICAL DUTIES: Supervises or performs program planning activities, including development of procedures for operation and evaluation, and fiscal and budgetary administration. Liaise with program personnel to assure proper integration of program planning and evaluation with program operation; Supervises or performs program evaluation studies, either on a regular or as needed basis. For position assigned to the Public Health Division: The Public Health Division includes over 20 programs working with partners and policy makers, and providing direct services, to address the community, educational, economic, family, and individual factors that affect health. HSPS positions manage program and grant activities, supervise program personnel, and ensure compliance with program and contract deliverables. HSPS activities and responsibilities may include coordinating with local, county, state and regional partners; planning and managing health promotion and/or disease prevention programs and budgets; community outreach, training and facilitation of health education activities for varied audiences; management of revenue and expenditure contracts and sub-contracts; and policy proposal and implementation. This position will directly oversee a locally funded program Community Preparedness & Engagement and will assist in various PHEP-related projects, as well as coordination of PHEP grant capabilities. He/she will assume the role of primary California Health Alert Network (CAHAN) Coordinator. He/she may supervise Public Health Nurse, Senior Community Health Worker, Community Health Worker Specialist, Interns and/or support staff. For position assigned to the Mental Health Division: Currently there is one project based 3 year position in the Mental Health division. This individual will directly oversee a newly formed Homeless Outreach and Treatment Team (HOTT). The HOTT will be working with homeless individuals in Berkeley and Albany who have a mental health concern. The program will conduct outreach and engagement to these individuals, then provide temporary housing and short term intensive mental health services to these individuals. The position will supervise 4 staff members and oversee a contracted evaluation consultant.
