1 Paschal Murray Position Announcement & Executive Director, Foundation Chapters Health System Temple Terrace, Florida Reports To Chapters Health System President & Chief Executive Officer Organization Profile With administrative offices in Temple Terrace, Florida, Chapters Health System provides hospice related care services to a large population in the counties near the Tampa, Florida metro area. Chapters was established in the early 1980 s through the creative gathering, or merging, of a number of regional care facilities associated with hospice care, palliative care, home health care and grief services. Chapters Health provides programs for helping patients and families manage various chapters in lives commonly associated with the end of life s journey. One of several objectives is to provide choices so that no one would feel that they are alone as they guide and prepare individuals and families for these final stages. A centralized management model provides a structure for efficient services to patients with a corresponding efficiency in cost containment. Service are provided in seven Florida counties through their associated agencies and service companies: LifePath Hospice Good Shepherd Hospice HPH Home Health A medical staffing company Pharmacy Hernando Pasco Hospice (HPH) Palliative Care

The Board of Directors for Chapters Health System and its affiliates are committed groups of carefully chosen community and professional leaders who have been entrusted with the major public responsibility and authority to preserve the mission and vision of the non-profit organization. The Executive Leadership Team carries out the policies as set by the Board through dedication to the mission of the organization. In coordination with the recruitment of the Vice President for Development position, the Board is currently establishing the Chapters Health Foundation to serve as a vehicle for charitable giving. The will have the additional title as Executive Director, Foundation. Position Summary The & Executive Director, Foundation is a senior level fundraising position. S/he acts as chief liaison between the Company and the Foundation board. In this role, the Executive serves as the chief development officer, spokesperson and representative of the Foundation and provides leadership for the Foundation s operations including strategic direction, program development, financial management, staff development and external/community relations and awareness. A significant amount of time is devoted to the identification, cultivation and solicitation of major and principal gifts. The Vice President serves as a member of the President s Leadership Team. Specific Job Responsibilities The will take responsibility to facilitate the following key components of the position: Program Development Chiefly responsible for identifying, cultivating and soliciting major gifts. Lead and manage staff to meet and exceed operational plan aligned to strategic initiatives.

3 Page 3 Board Governance/Relations Serve as the principal advisor to the Foundation Board. Responsible for leading the board in the development of the Strategic Plan for fulfilling the mission of the Foundation. Inform and recommend to the Board, areas in need of update and amendment to better align with both operation and grant functions. Contribute to Board selection and composition. Responsible for communicating information and for facilitating and supporting the work of the Board of Directors. Identify and solicit prospects to serve as new Foundation board members. Strategic Planning and Visioning Lead, in collaboration with the Board, the development and implementation of the short- and long-term strategic plan for the Foundation. Monitor a strategic plan for success and develop an operational plan to meet planned initiatives. Position the Organization to respond promptly and effectively to emerging opportunities and risks. Remain abreast of national benchmarks and data and incorporate into the Organization. Incorporate the Organization s vision into its programs and operations, embodying the Organization s vision in all activities. Internal and External Community Relations/Awareness Act as spokesperson and representative of the Foundation. Build strong relationships with donors and prospects and participates in the solicitation of repeat gifts. Responsible for communicating information and building supportive relationships with both the internal and external community constituencies of the Company and the Foundation. Educate staff and the public on the future direction and

4 Page 4 inspire them to be supporters and advocates. General Operations and Financial Management Responsible for managing the operations of the Foundation according to the policies and procedures approved by the Board of Directors and the laws and regulations of local, state and federal government. Develop annual goals/objectives and annual entity operating budget; aggressively monitor fiscal performance to include documentation of cost effectiveness and quality of services. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Qualities and experiences that ideal candidates should display include: An earned baccalaureate degree from an accredited four-year college or university. A professional track record that displays ten (10) years of progressively more responsible executive management experience. Highly developed skills as a fundraising professional to include prospect cultivation and solicitation. Extensive experience in major gifts, planned gifts, campaigns, annual giving, and grant writing/administration. Exceptional and documented track record of successful fundraising production to include the closing of significant charitable gifts. Achievement-oriented, results-focused and selfmotivated. Professional skills and accomplishments in planning, financial management, personnel management, volunteer management, and fundraising program management. Astute people skills including excellent communication (written, verbal, public speaking/presentation, persuasion) and interpersonal. An ability to lead and manage both people and

5 Page 5 programs. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work efficiently with volunteer boards, donors, prospects and colleagues. Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates that also display one or more of the following: An advanced academic degree, post-graduate educational institutes or related professional advancement activities. Experience working with a volunteer Board of Directors. Professional activity that would display an interest in advancing personal and organizational knowledge and best practices. Professional certification (CFRE, FAHP, CSPG or equivalent). Memorandum The salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience, qualifications, and verifiable salary history.
