Objective To provide a better understanding of how data replicates between the 3 GATES systems (Central, Remote and Deployment). To provide a better understanding of data flow between GATES and its interfaces. Minimize the amount of frustrated cargo due to documentation issues To ensure warfighters are supplied with equipment in a timely manner To help reduce data discrepancies in order to mitigate data errors. 4

G3 Mission The Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) Global Air Transportation Execution System (GATES) is an automated information systems designed to support the operational requirements of the Department of Defense (DOD) for obligating, tracking, documenting, scheduling, and payment of DOD cargo. SDDC provides functional support for its battalions, detachments, reserve, active units, and shippers to continue operations when necessary. 5

Functional Roles and Responsibilities GATES Central Site Workstation Area Security Officer (WASO) for Corporate users Answer Tier II/III Functional Tickets for GATES Assist internal and external customers with data discrepancies Update functional reference tables Peripheral device (HHT, RFID, printers, etc.) functional support manager SDDC functional representative at CCBs 6

GATES Joint Mission GATES is the single DOD port processing and manifesting system providing support for the global air and surface movement of personnel and materiel, to include processing and tracking from port to port. Supports USTRANSCOM air and sea port management, provides functionality for Defense Courier Division, SDDC/G3, and AMC/A4T; while providing billing information for Transportation Working Capital Fund (TWCF) accounting. 7

GATES Central Site External Interfaces POD Import Water Port RGATES POE Export Water Port RGATES 1. Shippers send Advanced TCMD records via external interfaces to the GATES central site. You can also build records on the central site or upload ATCMD from file. For this example the cargo is destined for the POE of Charleston and POD of Rotterdam. 1a. GATES central site replicates the ATCMD records to the POE at Charleston. 4. The Rotterdam water port dispositions some of the cargo onto trains and trucks for delivery to the ultimate consignee. The information is replicated to the GATES central site, which sends the information to external interfaces. 2. The export cargo arrives via ground conveyance (train, truck, convoy) at the Charleston water port and is receipted in GATES. The cargo receipt information is replicated to the GATES central site, which sends the information to external interfaces. 3. The Charleston water port lifts the cargo on the scheduled ship, and calls the manifest. The manifest is replicated to the GATES central site, which sends the information to external interfaces, and to the Rotterdam RGATES. 13
