1 Purchaing pecification Guideine for Marking Poyethyene Ga ytem Component 1.0 Genera 1.1 The purpoe of thi document i to provide operator with guidance on purchaing pecification anguage to communicate with vendor regarding the purchae of product having barcode and aphanumeric marking conforming to ATM product pecification and ATM F Thi document i imited to patic ga ytem component (pipe, fitting and appurtenance) where ATM product pecification incude requirement for barcode and aphanumeric marking of information encoded per ATM F2897. Thi document provide guidance ony for barcode and aphanumeric format marking. It doe not incude guidance for Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) or other Near Fied Communication (NFC) technoogie. 1.3 ATM tandard for patic ga pipe and component uch a ATM D2513 require product marking in barcode and aphanumeric format with encoded information that i in compiance with ATM F Marking Technique 2.1 Vendor may ue any marking technique (incuding etching, ink fuing, abeing and tag) but mut enure that the eected marking technique doe not compromie the integrity of the pipe, component, oint and/or the oining proce in accordance with ATM D2513 marking requirement. 3.0 Marking Format 3.1 ymboogy A pipe, fitting and appurtenance are to be marked with a 16 character ga ditribution component tracking and traceabiity identifier in accordance with ATM F2897. The 16 character code i to be expreed in aphanumeric format and Code 128 barcode format with a minimum bar thickne vaue of inche or an aternative 1D or 2D bar code ymboogy D barcode compiant with Code 128 indutry tandard ymboogy and a agreed upon between manufacturer and end uer are to be ued D barcode compiant with Code 128 indutry tandard ymboogy uch a ECC 200 DataMatrix, Azteode, Quick Repone (QR) Code or imiar ymboogy a agreed upon between manufacturer and end uer are to be ued. 1

2 3.2 Readabiity Barcode ymboogy i to be verified with a minimum quaity grade of C in accordance with ATM F1851/ ANI INCIT (R2000) The 16 character code expreed in aphanumeric format i to be readabe with the naked eye or with corrective ene (preferaby machine readabe). The font ued for the aphanumeric code i to provide unique and pecific character differentiation between upper and ower cae etter and number. ee Appendix A for exampe. 3.3 ize Barcode ymboogy i to be ized in accordance with the type of ymboogy ued. 4.0 Marking Durabiity 4.1 Barcode marking durabiity requirement appy to pipe, fitting and appurtenance and appy to the barcode marking on the actua component. Barcode marking on packaging aone do not meet the requirement of thi ection. 4.2 Barcode marking are to be readabe at the time of intaation in accordance with ATM F1851/ ANI INCIT (R2000). The time of intaation i defined a not more than 36 month before expoing the pipe or fitting to intaation embedment for direct buria or any pu in or puh in technique that invove pipe iding through oi or a hot pipe uch a poughing, panting, horizonta directiona driing (HDD), and inertion. 4.3 Barcode marking are to be abe to withtand at eat 36 month 1 of outdoor expoure incuding unight and utra vioet (UV) radiation, moiture and ubmerion in water, acid rain, at water and extreme temperature range. The program wi have proviion to manage the fow of materia and component through the faciity whie maintaining their identity to the point of the appication of the barcode. Vendor are to manage the quaity and performance of the printing procee ued to generate the barcode marking. Vendor are to empoy barcode verifier in accordance with ANI INCIT (R2000).
