Team Work and a can do attitude make the difference between a job completed and a job well done. SAFETY IS SAFETY ENVIRONMENTAL MAP A MANAGEMENT PRIORITY. Participation in local & national response drills, combined with monthly safety meetings provide all employees with a sound awareness of safety issues. Keeping up with all regulations and laws relating to the storage of liquid products keeps the environment clean, a responsibility we take very seriously. We are located inside Lamberts Points Docks Inc. a general break bulk cargo terminal owned and operated by The Norfolk Southern Corporation.
3 1 Description of Terminal FACILITY INFORMATION The terminal has 13 storage tanks ranging in size from 100,000 to 768,000 gallons. Total storage capacity is 3,205,000 gallons, or 73,331 barrels. The tanks include epoxy lined, fiberglass lined, insulated, steam coiled and mixing tanks. Rail service for the terminal is provided by Norfolk Southern, CSX Transportation and the Eastern Shore Railroad. Norfolk Oil is capable of storing 90 jumbo tank cars.
4 2 History HISTORY Norfolk Oil Transit, is a terminal steeped in history of For-Hire Terminals in the United States. In 1953 Norfolk Oil Transit pioneered the first export bulk liquid shipments of tallow in the United States. Prior to 1953 tallow was exported out of the mid-west via the Great Lakes in Drums. As a visionary and leader in the development of innovative transportation design, Reginald Narelle, Sr. formed an alliance with the Norfolk & Western Rail Road. Delivering rail road tank cars from the mid-west to Norfolk Oil s storage tanks, the Norfolk & Western Rail Road enjoyed many years of long haul rail traffic, which began what is known today as Veg Oil Trade. Reginald Narelle, Sr. (left) & Representatives from ADM In 1974 the founders son, Grant Narelle, joined the company and continued his fathers leadership role. The company expanded to include the storage and handling of Liquid Latex and other specialty chemicals. P.O. Norfolk Oil is capable of storing 90 jumbo tank cars. Flexitank (also know as a flexibag) ) Containers Flexitanks are soft light, polyethylene bladder with a volume of 14,000 to 24,000 liters for the transportation of bulk non-hazardous liquid cargoes within a standard 20-foot ISO dry -box container. It is generally used once and discarded or recycled. This makes flexitanks a cost-effective transportation solution for including certain chemicals, latex, wines, food oils and juices.
